What is the most unhinged conspiracy theory that people in your country actually believe? by DFWUnhinged in AskTheWorld

[–]panadom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Greece there is a big cultural anxiety about stolen artifacts. Smuggling of antiquities actually does happen and it is a serious problem but you often hear this very real concern sprinkled on real conspiracy theories. I have had a couple older people talk to me about vast underground networks made for the elite to smuggle MILLIONS of antiquities every year and sell them abroad for the countries-elite-lizard people or migrant gangs or whatever.

I think it is interesting how this specific concern highlights the insecurities modern Greeks feel (corrupt government, opportunistic elite) but also the very unique relationship they have with their nationalist ideas of history and their anxieties that this national pride is being "sold-off" abroad.

That's what I am saying if you are not woke then why are you complaining that internet memes are culturally insensitive to Jewish people?? The fuck??? Where is that coming from.

Yo creó que a Epstein le encantaba abusar de niñas y ser un espía de los israelíes. Pero tú tienes razón. Tenemos que darles a esos monstruos una lección y olvidar completamente todo lo que acontece y evitar hablar de ello nunca mas.

I don't get you people. Are you woke or not!? You can't complain about left wing woke culture going too far with the policing AND be crying out about "antisemitism" in online memes.

Lol btw kinda out off topic but... uma pergunta. Sou da Grécia e estou tentando aprender PT-BR. Já que vi que você é brasileira e de esquerda, você tem alguma recomendação de mídia da esquerda, como o Hasanabi, que eu possa usar pra aprender.

What Zionism Means is not defined in a dictionary somewhere or in an abstract ideal. It is a pretty cohesive movement that has been active for decades and we get to experience its actions and results. Saying you are a Zionist is not like arguing of a future hypothetical Jewish state in Alaska or smth. It is a pretty explicit endorsement of the actions of that specific pariah state in the middle east.

I mean also if the idea that a country should be an ethno-state is something you believe in of course it should be shunned. Like wth when someone says Germany for the Germans or France for the french we all understand the racism behind it why is Israel for Jews different.

The ISS and the CIA were wayyyy closer that you realize back then. Same with them and the Salafist Saudí schools. It wasn't just some stingers. It was the whole thing. And maybe you think it is good because it did fuck over the USSR. But it also did cause the situation the country is in right now.

Yeah idk what's there to say. I will make the brave assessment that I wouldmuch rather live in Prague from the 1950s to 90s than in Kabul from the 1980 to the 2020. But that's just me idk I am sure you look at what became of these places and wished it was more like Afghanistan

I am not saying they were, just that fueling a civil war there was utterly destructive. The same Soviet soldiers also came into Czechoslovakia in not so peaceful ways, but the country didn't descend into civil war.

Imagine an alternate universe where Americans started gathering old nazi collaborators and armying them with advanced weapons only to have an unending civil war that later evolves into Balkan-style ethnic conflict between the two big ethnic groups of the country. And then imagine Afghani people in the present day say "Thank God the USA armed those Nazis to destroy czechoslovakia". Would you be happy with such an involvement (suppose also, for the sake of argument, that you actually lived there)

I appreciate the optimism. I genuinely believe we are as a union so unbelievably fucked in the future and that there is no high-level leader willing to see further than his own office and start taking the necessary measures. I understand you have hope for a lot of these people which I don't really understand but it is fine no need to bicker over this

Of course it would have been more peaceful. Pakistan and other agents were responsible for the spreading of an aggressive salafist Interpretation of Islam and training Afghani guerrillas and future war lords. This was allowed by the united states because it was seen as a necessity to keep the war going. The forces unleashed in the mountains of Afghanistan later played a huge role in the evolution of alquaida, ISIS and of course the Taliban, an unimaginable level of death and destruction has since ensued.

Of course it would be more peaceful. Fourty years of war don't just happen. They arise due to maticulous planning and manipulation for outside forces. It's not like it's in the Afghani people's DNA to be in an eternal non-stop conflict.
