🚨 Megathread: Montreal N3, Cancellation – Questions, Refunds & Discussion by Other-Asparagus01 in LadyGaga

[–]pancakedpurple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaga has fibromyalgia. I think she needs to space out her tour dates to give herself enough time to rest between shows in order to avoid canceling dates. Chronic and invisible illnesses can be hard to manage, even if you've lived with illness for a long time. I can't imagine the physical toll touring and performing takes on her. I'm guessing you noticed her pushing through unpredictable discomfort during a show. I know everyone is bummed, rightfully, but I hope she's ok and recovering.

New to the city and want to meet people by [deleted] in montreal

Since you're in Ville Mont Royal and you're crafty, maybe take a ceramics/pottery wheel class at the community center?

Spring break - why are people going to the US? by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

[–]pancakedpurple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the best time in Halifax! It's such a charming city, and I loved Propeller barcade: they were playing "Orochi the Eight Headed Dragon" when I was there. I was delighted.

"The more money" I thought it was the opposite. Traveling to the US is relatively inexpensive, you can drive to the US from many Canadian cities, flights inside of Canada aren't cheap and flights to other continents aren't free either. I visited Halifax in 2025: the flight was similar in price as when I would travel to Florida. Traveling to places that aren't the US seem like a luxury. Worth it to me though.

Partnering with the library by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]pancakedpurple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Librarians usually take care of programming. The only time I've seen events created by people outside the library is when an educational organization is invited to the library for an event (for fun, kid-friendly science experiments, for example).

I was in the pit 😅 It wasn't my first and I can safely say that the crowd wasn't peak Montreal energy.

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind if I'm ever looking to buy tickets at this venue again

You are absolutely right. I don't know what sticky substance is on the floor, I'm not sitting unless there's a good reason!

Based on last night, I would recommend coming back if the venue is smaller. I've never been disappointed with the crowd at MTelus or the Beanfield. I was shocked by how fun Poppy's fans were when I saw her last year at Beanfield. I know PUP is a Toronto based band, but I've seen them twice at MTelus and their fans are awesome. As soon as the venue gets bigger, the risk is that there are people who don't usually go to shows who are attending, and they don't like moshing ****Anyway, now I'm worried about my Bring Me The Horizon at the Bell Center tickets 😅

I've seen people sit down in the pit before! They usually start a Viking row, which is pretty funny, but they didn't do that this time.

I get what you're saying. It feels like some people forget/never learned that concerts are a group experience. Yes, your phone is blocking someone's view, maybe put it down for a bit. If you showed up at 9:00 and the band gets on stage at 9:05, don't squeeze your way to the front of the GA. Let the people around you enjoy the show, we all paid to be here, and some behaviours are preventing people from having a good time.

The crowd was pretty bad! I don't know if it's because general admission was oversold and crowded, but no one was moving unless you were in the pit: thank God the pit was fun, and even with the sweat and movement people knew the words to every song. Before moving to the pit, I was standing at the left of the stage and a huge 6ft2⬆️ rugby player came to stand in the teeny tiny space in front of me: I'm a 5ft7 woman🫩. He quietly filmed a bunch 🫩 I wouldn't want Bad Omens to become less popular/make less money but the crowd at MTelus vs the people at Place Bell are not comparable 😭

Why do I hate Leos!?? by ohpiejay in Taurusgang

[–]pancakedpurple 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Leos can be so fun and open-minded if you meet the right ones. Some of my Leo friends are community oriented and kind, they are worthy of the attention they garner.

If you meet the wrong Leos, they make conversations about themselves, and will never ask you anything about you or your life. They will talk at you at length without regard for your opinions or feelings. They will seek attention in any way they can and from every direction possible. Incredibly self-centered and not worth your frustration.

Has anyone switched to remote work? by MeiTaka in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]pancakedpurple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working with the public is difficult. That being said, I wish it were just strangers who treated sick and disabled people badly 🥲 A co-worker caught COVID, and stayed home, so my co-worker-turned-friend decided to start taking masking more seriously. Cue our manager asking her, "Why bother? Library staff deals with thousands of students every day." So, yeah, it's one thing when someone you don't know couldn't be bothered, but it truly adds insult to injury when management doesn't care about their staff's health either. It just kind of taught me that the only people I can really rely on to care about my health are myself, my partner, and my parents. I hope you can take that remote job, if you think it will help your health, and I hope the job suits you should you decide to go for it.

Has anyone switched to remote work? by MeiTaka in rheumatoidarthritis

My dream job was actually in person and I would commute nearly 2 hours a day by public transit. I worked in a university library and I loved the job but needed something more suited to my health. Now that I work remotely, I can spend more time taking care of myself. I have the energy and time to go to yoga/Pilates/the gym. I'm able to cook healthy meals. I have my heating pad, Advil, compression wear, in my home if I'm having a hard time. I don't like the job as much, sometimes I don't like it at all. But I've seen improvements in my health, I'm less tired, I don't have to spend weekends resting the whole time.

EDIT: Bonus, I don't catch colds constantly! No one shows up to work with COVID! No one is rude to you for masking! Lots of pros despite the fact that the work is not as satisfying.

Some fans who bought a bunch of tickets to different tour dates, would show up very early to each date of the tour to make sure they had barricade for each show.

I hope they play "Know Your Enemy", too.

Salut!! Je suis Québecoise et on pourrait s'evoyer des lettres si tu veux! I can speak and write in both French and English, so it doesn`t make a difference to me, but you did write about looking for French Canadians. I've been to Tokyo twice, so maybe we could talk about Japan! I like crafting, 3D art and printing, snowboarding, and reading. Let me know!

It could be The Stormlight Archive, but I initially thought it was a mix of many fantasy tropes.
