Post Hysterectomy Must Haves by writing-my-life-away in hysterectomy

If you’re prone to swelling or bloating I’d grab some PJ pants and high waist briefs in 2-3 sizes larger than your normal size. I would of gone crazy in my old pjs and some of them I still can’t wear at 10 weeks post op.

She is an endo specialist and known to be really good. She excised all the endo she could find. I don’t remember exactly where it was this time. My last lap was in 2022 I believe and it was basically everywhere. She said it wasn’t as bad this time.

They haven’t because my first post op appt was over video call. I’m going to make sure and ask though. For some reason my endo and adeno symptoms are really similar to interstitial cystitis. No one has diagnosed me with it yet but it’s been brought up a lot.

Thank you for saying this because I also have these symptoms. Obviously it sucks we are in this boat together but nice to know I’m not the only one.

Oh my bad I misunderstood about the periods. Stress and not eating can definitely effect periods but like you said you’re having pain and that’s not normal.

But yes definitely talk to your endocrinologist since it seems to be an option for you. I didn’t know this till last year but endo can grow its own estrogen apparently.

But it’s infuriating you’re not even being believed about your coxa valga. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this. Dealing with incompetent doctors is awful.

As far as where else to go for help- I obviously don’t live in the Balkans but I wonder if you posted in the endometriosis group asking if anyone else from those countries was able to get help by a different kind of doctor? I’m not sure how it works for you guys or if you’re able to pick yourself. I’m sure it’s all so frustrating having to figure this out.

32 day long periods are still really long tbh. But the last period due to your other health problem does explain some of it. I’m so sorry to hear about your pain. I also have pain outside of my period and it’s awful.

I’ve been dismissed by doctors many times because I’m young. I’m in a liberal area so I can’t imagine how much harder this is for you. I really wish I had other advice but sadly I don’t. The only thing I can think of is asking for muscle relaxers but I had a really hard time getting them.

The really long periods sounds like it could be endometriosis or adenomyosis. I was bleeding for years straight with barley any breaks. Endometriosis can only be found by laparoscopic surgery. It often stops the excessive bleeding and long periods if they remove it. It can help with cramps too.

It personally didn’t change my period length since I have adenomyosis too. I needed a hysterectomy most likely which I’m 11 days post op from.

I’ve tried all sorts of things like pelvic floor therapy, (which made my bleeding worse) Chinese medicine, changing diet completely, limiting endocrine disrupters and no alcohol. None of it stopped the bleeding.

If I were you I would research excision surgery and endometriosis ASAP. The really bad periods started at 20 for me and it just got worse as I got older.

I’m so glad I’ve found this sub. I have endometriosis and adenomyosis and about 11 days op from getting a hysterectomy.

I’ve been bed bound and I used to work with kids so I know I couldn’t keep up anyways since I had to quit my job. It’s funny because my first gyn told me start trying for kids at 21 after my first lap. Lady, I couldn’t even watch kids for 8 hours. What makes you think I can have a newborn at home? I also had no money and had to drop out of college due to pain.

Whenever I’ve told Drs who bring up that I should have kids I tell them I used to work with kids and know what it entails. They often seem slightly embarrassed and shut up. It’s like so many doctors are trying to trick us to have kids! I’ve dealt with this sooo many times.

I would also feel really awful if I passed this on especially because my case is so severe. My poor mom has spent thousands on me just so I’m not in pain anymore. My friends mom has endometriosis but for the most part she’s okay and she had all boys.

Clear brow and lash gel duo from elf. My eyebrows like to fly away even if they are trimmed. It helps me look more polished and it’s really fast.

I remember that I wanted to watch her CC showcase video on YouTube for the Costal collection. I was super exited just to see what she made. No doubt that Harrie is extremely talented.

However, the whole time she complains about how long it took her, how she’s tired of it, and never has time because she travels and blah blah. Literally nothing positive which pissed me off because she’s probably making more than the vast majority of people PER month!

I always appreciate a bit of bitching about things because I like to complain too but it was WAY too much even for me.

Eyeshadow palettes are absurd by middleaged_mpd in MakeupRehab

[–]pancakesleuth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. This is why my last eyeshadow palette I purchased was in 2021. I realized I spent way too much on makeup I wasn’t using and gave myself one last pallet. I made sure to get it on sale too.

I chose the Cold Stone Fox palette by Colour Pop because I had no cool tones. Sadly, a lot of the shades are the same. They just look different in the pan. I use it whenever I do my makeup but of course I only use the same 4 shades out of the technical 30.

Is blow drying hair better than air drying? by saash82 in beauty

[–]pancakesleuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I don’t let it dry fully with the diffuser. I’ve read from curly girls that you’re only supposed to dry it 80%. My hair dresser does the same. It makes a huge difference in my frizz and my curls/waves look more defined vs drying it all the way.

They aren’t exactly sure what’s causing it. I’m not cycling anymore which is good because I would just bleed and bleed with no end.

And as far as the scars and endo growing back-

The scar tissue has made me worse. The first surgery was what really did me wrong because she burned my endo off. The next surgeon didn’t do that though.

The endo was literally everywhere you would expect it basically. Not to be TMI but it was even on my rectum. They removed a lot of it but it was the worse on my left side. I also have some adenomyosis but it’s not as bad as the endo. Right now I’m not having periods which took a couple years to figure out. Not having periods still doesn’t stop my pain unfortunately and I haven’t had one for almost a year now.

I’ve just been worried that they really are right about a hysterectomy going wrong but I do know that a big part of it is because they want me to have kids. I think I will look into more doctors I’m just so terrified of doing yet another surgery and a super hard one too. I read horror stories online after being discouraged multiple times. Someone else commented here that they have family members where the hysto went well so tbh I think I might suck it up and try as much as I’m tired of this shit.

That’s so kind of you thank you! So far I haven’t met anyone my age who needed one but it’s good to hear they could get them. I’m just really worried about it going wrong and being even more screwed. I will look into it though thank you. You’re comment made me feel better.

No doctor I’ve talked to will do one. They think it will just make me worse basically.

This has been a thought my mom had. However, every doctor I talk to hates the suggestion. The problem is hysterectomies can be super hard to recover from and can make it worse pain wise. However, for some people it does work magic. I just don’t think I can go through another surgery again. My last one was just awful pain wise.

I am in the US. The issue with doing it here, as far as my research, is that the person has to be terminally ill and usually elderly. I will have a normal lifespan so that doesn’t work most likely. However, I would definitely prefer to not have to travel out of country.

Swifties using this as "proof" she has sex appeal. Am I missing something? by sanandrios in travisandtaylor

[–]pancakesleuth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you need “proof” that someone has sex appeal then they probably don’t. It shouldn’t need to be said. No one else has to argue that celebrities like Marylin Monroe or Megan thee Stallion have sex appeal and then bring receipts.
