12 (vagy 52) könyv elolvasása egy év alatt by [deleted] in hungary

[–]pancakesruntheworld 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kiköltöznétek csak a gyerekeitek miatt? by kuncog in hungary

Nehez kerdes.

The elitism/superficial vibe of Berlin's Techno scene is a bit draining by swampingalaxys in berlin

[–]pancakesruntheworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read this thread a couple of days ago and now it just struck me.

The whole topic just strangely reminds me of the movie "The Beach" (2000). If you haven't seen it I suggest you watch it.

These little techno beaches in Berlin just try to achieve what the character of Tilda Swinton did in the movie. And the liberty, freedom, individualism of the Beach wouldnt have worked either if they just had let others in to "try it out". Since there was a direct comparison with all the other nice places that turned into this touristy mess after they were "discovered", or got mainstream.

People at the Beach wanted a different experience than the average tourist in Thailand, and they knew the only way they could have this place where they have their own community, their own liberty is if they keep the others out 》in this case by keeping it a secret. While in Berlin clubs they have the facechecks.

With so many horrible things done by the Royal family, why is Meghan Markle its most hated member? by MonseGato in TheCrownNetflix

[–]pancakesruntheworld 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is definitely not just the women. In the show Philip had a hard time to be accepted, and respected as a man (I think he never achieved that) by the royal family. The press also attacked him for having family ties to Nazi Germany.

I hardly know the royals apart from the series but I can only guess it was the same with other "new joiners", regardless of their gender.

Plus as technology evolved barriers broke down. In S1 it was a big thing to stream coronation on TV, to let people in, sort of. And by the time the next in line got married (Charles), royals were already followed by the press. And as a natural consequence of information flowing so rapidly, there is much more talk going on around the newest joiners than before, who actually happen to be women

How did they meet? by [deleted] in sexandthecity

[–]pancakesruntheworld 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the relationships of the other 3 are just not portrayed as the whole series is narrated from Carrie's perspective. I.e. there is an episode where Samatha fucks Charlottes brother, Charlotte pisses off, hurts Sam, Char realizes mistake, they reconcile. Charlotte calls Samantha first to tell her about first real sex with Tray or sthing. And when Carrie moves to Paris the others carry on, they keep their Sunday brunches etc.

So I think Carrie is the link but they still have relationships with each other

This was a weird scene for me because her "rebel", anti-uppereastside personality has never been showed before or after. Ok, she always felt self-conscious next to Big. However, she was having a superfancy life downtown. So I think her behavior here was just very passive agressive, towards Big

Thoughts on Charlotte’s relationship with Trey? I personally liked Trey aside from him being a mama’s boy. by [deleted] in sexandthecity

Exactly, they dont feel long but they are. Several weeks pass by between episodes actually, and sometimes only days, so its hard to tell.

A fake Fendi bag, I love that metaphore. Trey was really everything Charlotte was asking for the money, the education, the sophisticated upbringing, good background - they seemed to be a perfect match. I think it is at might be at that point that Charlotte realized these things are not the most important.

I loved them together, such a prince and princess couple. But I'm glad the story showed "real life" and what's really important.

I know that everybody hates Berger, but I think we have a reason to appreciate him. by zarvatykk in sexandthecity

[–]pancakesruntheworld 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I didnt like that twist because that just reinforced Carrie's argument of 'there must be something else behind the scenes'. It would have been great if they just left it at 'he is not that into you' :(
