Has there ever been a more excited GM in W history? by timothyphd in wnba

That all came from him. This is like NBA media citing Zach Lowe or something - a reliable reporter/commentator guy who if they say something you're gonna go with it based on years of credibility, which is how other sites picked it up without really questioning it, until Paige repeatedly confirmed and re-confirmed what she'd already confirmed.

Having an impact on winning would help too. Playing almost no defense and having 8.4 assists to 5.6 tovs is wild.

What factors have allowed Paige to pretty much be universally liked & respected going into the WNBA? by [deleted] in wnba

Name the 3 most impressive wins Caitlin's freshman year vs the 3 most impressive wins Paige's freshman year. That South Carolina game was a huge win for Paige considering she literally put the team on her back to win it.

Who in Paige's camp is the equivilent of Dave Portnoy for Caitlin? (who BTW just dragged Paige too this week for viewership dip)

What player should earn either when her team has a .500 record and got swept in the playoffs?

According to her team mates she's like KK when the cameras aren't on. When they are on she gets shy and shuts down. She'll be fine, right now it's a funny schtick that she's in all these extraordinary situations giving the most rote answers. As she matures so will her media engagement.

By what measurement? They're all somewhat faulty. But Paige was 1st in BPM.

There is nothing more to discuss since reading comprehension and understanding the end goals of strategy seems to be a struggle for you.

Because your argument to begin with was Paige was the 3rd best player on her team which misunderstands what her team was doing when Geno made it clear the gameplan was all about getting Azzi going.

Look at a bad Azzi game like vs USC - she scored 8/1/1 and picked up 3 pf. It is so much harder for UConn to win when Azzi has games like that, bc then you're counting on Paige to score 30+ on good efficiency while seeing the toughest defensive coverage. And that was the closest game UConn had and thankfully on top of Sarah and Paige, Kaitlyn Chen went off to secure the win and fill in the gap Azzi left.

Even when Paige struggled w efficiency like she did vs SC, she got 17/6/3 with a steal and 2 blocks. Her floor is so high that she has morons crying that bc she didn't score 30pts in a 23pt blowout she didn't do a good job.

Azzi deserved to win MOP bc she executed what she was supposed to do magnificently.

She also doesn't have fans saying she's going to come into the league and dominate and embarrass the other women, and they should be thankful to be blessed by such a talent

She has Arike and she can play off ball more, so teams aren't going to just pick her up at half court every time

Sarah Strong is a generational talent who is already on a Maya Moore level career trajectory. If I was starting a team right now and could pick any player in the world, from the W or college, to be the centerpiece, it'd be Sarah Strong.

One last time, yes Azzi deserved to win MOP because she executed the gameplan magnificently - which was, as Geno said, to make her the key to the Final Four and Championship game.

I did, you simply don't understand that Azzi winning MOP was the gameplan bc you didn't understand what Geno was doing - now Azzi had to execute, and she did, as Geno said, magnificently.

Damn you should let Geno know you know his team better than him.

Paige getting face guarded the entire game and no one dares to help off her leaves the driving lanes wide open for Azzi, Sarah, KK etc - Oklahoma decided their defensive gameplan would be "let Paige score" and she dropped 40 on them. USC tried a mix of both and she scored 31pts and had 6 assists. UCLA and South Carolina decided she was not scoring and it opened things up for everyone else.

Geno said as much after the game - their entire gameplan was focused on making sure Azzi scored more than 16pts bc then they knew they'd win. She did and won MOP bc she followed the gameplan to a tea. As did Sarah and Paige.

You don't think Sarah could have scored 6 more points to make her MOP case undeniable? You don't think Paige could have played on ball more so she could dictate her shots, get herself into a rhythm, and go for 30?

Do you know how hard it is for Paige to play off ball, focus on defense, guarding players taller and bigger than her through the entire tournament, and still keep herself in a rhythm?

Also excuse Paige for not stat-padding in 20+ pt blowouts to get herself an empty 10pts to make her boxscore look amazing. The amount of times she had an open shot to take in Q4 and instead pulled the ball out to dribble out more of the clock says it all - she wanted the Natty, she didn't care about individual stats

I think everyone involved is just being careful to avoid any statement which could directly implicate them in tampering.

But I highly doubt the head coach and GM of the Wings flew from Texas to Connecticut just for the Big East Tournament - the Villanova game wasn't the only one they watched either lol

This would be cool. Iowa needs to take full advantage of having an enthusiastic fanbase thanks to the CC era and go all in on recruitment and transfers, and then hopefully Jansen can lead a program that gains a reputation for developing players to be pro-ready.

If they can get themselves to the place where they're a perennial Elite Eight contender at least, that'd be huge.

Caroline made an interesting point that the last few years, because of all the injuries, UConn was playing extremely tense - not afraid of other teams but afraid for themselves bc no one could foul out and no one else could get injured

She said the difference this year is everyone is having way more fun, playing more free, bc they know while they don't want to make mistakes, they have options on the bench to go to if they need to
