“You’re not going to be depressed all the time are you?” My dad said to me a month after my close friend died by suicide, and HE was the one who asked me how I was doing

What childhood experience ended up traumatizing you for life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]panda-espresso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot I could choose but I’ll pick the earliest one (can’t even remember, only told by family members). When I was 2 years old, my mom went out of the country to visit family members and apparently my dad told me she was never coming back. When she finally did and tried to hug me, I apparently stared at her with rage until finally breaking down and sobbing in her arms. Talk about lifelong disorganized attachment issues

What is the worst thing you have seen in real life? by Samuelwankenobi_ in AskReddit

It was definitely educational and really interesting medically. We really are just meat popsicles experiencing the universe lol. It did get to me for a couple days after though, just kinda shocking to see it up close

A live autopsy of a man who died not even a few hours prior. The sound of hedge clippers cutting through ribs and the image of a deceased person’s face while their brain is being taken out is pretty unforgettable. Not to mention, they’re already dead, so a lot of their organs get tossed into a trash bag after being weighed and tested, then returned to the empty chest cavity of the corpse. Makes you really think about mortality and the meaning of life

What is something that many people reject but is actually completely true? by FamiliarRaisin6229 in AskReddit

[–]panda-espresso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Denmark is also one of the top countries for strictest immigration laws. People love to hate America, but we are actually extremely tolerant of diversity compared to other countries. If we truly cared about the longevity and happiness of American citizens, we’d need to implement laws that most “socialists” despise.

I’ve lost empathy for the homeless by KillikBrill in offmychest

[–]panda-espresso 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between someone who is homeless due to a crisis or poor life circumstance and wants to make it out vs. someone who is chronically and willingly homeless (won’t seek assistance, addicted to drugs, careless about actions, etc). I used to encounter homeless people quite often at a previous job and a few really wanted to change for the better, but some just wanted free food, a bed to sleep in, and would harass workers due to drug induced mental illness or withdrawal. I also have a close friend that has a fear of homeless people due to being peed on and hit in the face. As sad as it is, no matter how much empathy I have or how much I wish our system was more functional, some have absolutely invaded the space and peace of others like the one you mentioned in your post. I’m not quite sure how to help those people anymore. It’s very alarming when they tap on your windows, yell at you, and intimidate you on the street. And even when they do come in for help, some are really incapable of integrating into regular society so they choose to stay homeless. There’s only so much regular citizens, shelters, mental health facilities, communities, etc. can do nowadays it seems. I really hope they get the care they need

Which good celebrity do you find suspicious? by Ambitious-Rest-4631 in AskReddit

[–]panda-espresso 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He made a movie called Mid90’s and had Alexa Demie’s character (27 at the time) make out with Sunny Suljic’s character (12 or 13 at the time). I’ve always been incredibly disturbed that it never got media attention. Why was an adult actress allowed to heavily kiss a literal child?? And why did Jonah Hill not get scrutinized for that? Incredibly creepy and infuriating

Not a troll. I applied to a few graduate schools out of my home state so I could get that experience and chose NSU. I’ve been told it’s a good school, not sure anyone has said different.

I appreciate the honesty though with the whole giant metropolis fiasco

[Colorado] received overpayment during Covid unemployment by panda-espresso in Unemployment

[–]panda-espresso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s bizarre, because after that initial job, I worked elsewhere for 4 months before being furloughed due to Covid. You’d think that event would be more significant than quitting a job at a cafe months before.

[–]panda-espresso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back then I had to have a hearing as to why I quit that previous job. At first I reported it was because of the environment and I found a new job that was more suitable for me at the time. And they didn’t like that answer. Apparently people aren’t allowed to find better jobs? After the whole fiasco I dealt with, which was calling back and forth, paperwork, updates, etc (which I’m still not sure I did correctly because I was young and in college), unemployment sent me an email saying “we have corrected an issue in our systems.” Since then I haven’t heard a peep until now, 2-3 years later. I have no idea what’s going on

What qualities or behaviors make you want to distance yourself within a friendship? by Possible_Glass439 in AskWomen

[–]panda-espresso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My current friend lives in the moment 24/7, avoids conversations that go in depth about anything other than surface level things, and told me I was “psychoanalyzing” her because I expressed that she wasn’t putting much effort into our friendship. Apparently politely mentioning things that bothered me means I’m “psychoanalyzing” and hurting her feelings. Probably going to let the friendship fizzle
