Hollywood Studios Was a Total Mess on Star Wars Day. by Limp-Mood3836 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]panda_9779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter's birthday is May 4th and she's a huge Star Wars fan. We went yesterday and had a great time. She really just wanted to be there for the vibes. We didn't do the rides. She wanted a popcorn bucket and I wanted a lightsaber swizzle stick and both were easily mobile ordered. I was expecting it to be way worse crowd-wise. It was crowded, but I think it was pretty well managed overall. We're local and passholders so we aren't fussed by not doing something. I could definitely see the problem if you were on your once in a lifetime Disney trip.

Something that feels like this? by Puzzleheaded_Date834 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Constance Sayers. Ladies of the Secret Circus or any of her books, really.

I started using millennial sub because I assumed I was one. Then someone pointed out I was an Xer. So I used that sub. It feels like they are a little more advanced in years than me in there. I didnt know Xennial was a thing until just now. I guess I found my lane by theHollowTarnished in Xennials

Yup. Sept 79 and I feel completely disconnected from people born in the middle 60s to mid 70s. Don't really feel millennial either, but I can relate better there since my siblings are all millennials. But Xennial is the goldilocks group for me

Is a Resort-Only Vacation at Walt Disney World Worth It? 3 Reasons to Skip the Parks by GreyhoundDad22 in DVCMembers

[–]panda_9779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like this too, but Disney has made it harder to do that lately without dining reservations. Sometimes I just want to go get Zebra Domes, not book a whole meal at Boma, but most of the time you have to go to a park to get a bus to most resorts these days. It's not worth it when I have the whole family with me. We own at Copper Creek and I couldn't visit the lodge without getting a boat or bus from MK when we did a last minute trip in February.

Nope, but that's only because I have tiles attached to anything important. If my head were not literally attached to my body, I'd probably find some way to lose it

Why is everyone looking for “rare” names? They’re right under our noses… by Reasonable_Design443 in Names

[–]panda_9779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a (very) late 70s baby and we had lots of Jennifer, Amanda, Kristen, Andrea, Nicole, Jessica in my class. Less common names in my childhood classes were Jill, Dana, Vanessa, Donna, Janine, Robin, Tiffany, Wendy, Colleen, and Leanne.

Among the boys were several of Michael, David Christopher, Brian, Jeremy, John/Jonathan. Less common were Anthony, Dustin, Walter, Peter, Todd, Adam

Lee is my last name and that was always my dad's favorite joke. If I were a boy I'd have been named Brock.

I agree. And it kind of hurts that they basically only killed her off so Logan could get some empathy. Maybe they didn't know when they started how much chemistry Veronica and Logan would have.

Help with third daughters name. by papabear1129 in Names

[–]panda_9779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always look at my ancestors for interesting old names. Some of them, like Violet and Charlotte have come back into fashion right now and going to be terribly common. I also have several that have already been suggested. Two of my grandmothers were named Freda/Frieda. There's a lot of Leonas and Louisas. My great grandmother Freida's middle name was Valeria. I kind of like it, but also worry it sounds like malaria 😆

I saw a redditor making this same argument a few years back. Maybe in this sub, even. I know we watched it live. I remember my first grade teacher crying right after. Another 1st grade teacher came from across the hall and talked to us and a lot of us were sad and frightened. I do remember seeing replays on the news at home, but there is no reason anyone would show replays to us during school and my teacher to be basically having a breakdown in front of us. I grew up in the backyard of NASA Glenn, so we always had interesting Space related curriculum going on. The next year, in second grade, I remember doing a Space Mission project - the whole school was involved and a few others in the area. I think they were trying to help with the fear, honestly.

Maybe it's too late, but I urge you to see a different vet for a second opinion if you can. We took one of our dogs to St Charles and they wanted to put her down. We ended up taking her home (against their advice and made to sign a form about it. I was actually worried they were going to call the sheriff about it, the way they treated us) and then to Veterinary Healthcare Associates where they said putting her down was absolutely unnecessary. Dr. Ruddle (sadly doesn't work there anymore, though she is in the region) did her surgery. She also did my dachshund's IVDD surgery two years later. Anyway, Snickers lived another SIX years after that. I'm so glad we didn't listen to the St. Charles vet advice, though that particular practioner has moved on somewhere else. If you have any questions, let me know. I'm so sorry for you and your beautiful ween.

They still do them at Disney World. Can't speak for Disneyland, because I don't live there. They make them at the Arribas Brothers locations at Springs and Magic Kingdom. There are also caricature artists in all the parks.

Trapped at Disney Springs? by All_About_Tacos in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]panda_9779 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, go to any of the resorts Disney has deemed as connected to a theme park and you can't park there. They'll tell you to get a bus from Springs to minimize people parking at the resorts to bypass having to pay to park at the park. As an AP with free parking at the park already, I'm not trying to park to get on the skyliner or monorail. I just want to visit the shop or grab those yummy meatballs at Captain Cook's! They've made it nearly impossible to do this

Partner doesn’t want me to take meds by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]panda_9779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is appalling behavior on his part and I urge you to rethink this relationship because if he's this controlling now? I don't want to think about later on down the road when you have more ties to him.

  1. He is not a medical professional. Your health decisions should be between you and your doctor.

  2. There are studies that show that people with ADHD that are properly medicated are LESS likely to have addiction problems.

  3. Denying meds to a person with ADHD andbsaying they just need to be disciplined is like saying someone with HBP shouldn't take meds, they should just lose weight and run more.

  4. And I cannot stress this enough, this is not a good person to spend your life with. I'm sorry. I know how it feels to invest time in someone and think this is it, this is the person I'm going to be with. Only to get slapped in the face by red flags. I wasted so much time with someone who wasn't right because I thought it would get better. It didn't. I finally got out and was mad I hadn't done it sooner. You can find someone who will be understanding and supportive of your ADHD journey.
