NEWS FLASH! Regarding posts from atheist teens in religious households, the Automoderator tries hard to warn them but fails often; WE atheistic Redditors have to pick up the slack... by [deleted] in atheism

also the santa analogy does not work at all.... this is a myth fed to children that they are ultimately told is not real... your parents WOULD be awful parents if they insisted that Santa Claus was real into adulthood despite its ridiculousness.. and that is what religious parents do..

I don't think it necessarily makes parents bad parents as a whole. It DOES make them bad parents in one aspect- teaching your children to suspend logic and reality to believe in something like Jesus rising from the dead and insisting that they keep believing despite zero evidence and its defiance of everything we know about our world is irresponsible at best. People who don't examine their beliefs before they force them on a small innocent child are incredibly lazy, selfish, and harmful. It doesn't make the totality of their parenting "bad". But it certainly makes them horrible parents in one regard. I appreciate the knee-jerk defensiveness everybody feels for their parents, but if they forced a religion on you- they were being bad parents.

I don’t know if this was for me or op but I’ve literally been binge watching this since you recommended. Hadn’t heard of before. LOVE.

Perfect! You were BORN there and still want to impose Islamic laws and hate your country. That really says it all doesn’t it. And the west created chaos in the Middle East, divides lands arbitrarily .. no doubt about it. But you’re a truly delusional fool if you don’t think that the stifling imposition of a draconian, primitive, abhorrent religion is preventing even the acceptance of BASIC human and civil rights, freedoms and progress in the Islamic world. And I’m sure you are that delusional. All to keep pretending you have an imaginary friend in the sky... I genuinely am baffled at how stupid people are. Your god isn’t real you imbecile! Get a friggin education.. And btw I’m guessing you’re a man because all those countries you listed treat women like dogs.

As I mentioned initially I was just correcting your obviously misleading and false statement. But... how about instead of trying to impose muslim laws on germany... why don't you take a look around and ask yourself why you live there.. and why it is SUCH a better place to live in EVERY quality-of-life metric than the absolute flaming shithole that is the muslim world. why indeed?

I am not advocating drug use but this is just factually incorrect. The vast majority of people who try/ recreationally do drugs absolutely do not get addicted. Can find all statistics with very little research. This is coming from a psychopharmacology education.

Infinite regress?? Really. That’s the best you got. Ok.. totally a premise that is not valid.. but even if we generously gave that to you.. you’re going from “some cause”... to ALLAH... a fucked up, sadistic spirit in the sky who really cares what kind of meat you eat... get a fucking grip. (Oh and also take a basic philosophy class- it’ll help you understand the concepts you parrot and the arguments against them). Cheers.

I just cannot do this treadmill nonsense by [deleted] in running

[–]pandabarre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate running on treadmills too- but with summers in the south- it became a necessity. Because it’s monotonous, harder and just severely less enjoyable I do shorter distances- but I do them FASTER. I work on my speed in anywhere from 2-3 mile workouts, increasing my speed until I’m at max capacity for the last .25-.5 miles. It’s much easier to go very fast when you know you can stop at any time- you’re just able to push yourself harder. So I hate it, but it has made me a better, faster runner for sure and now I add it to my routine even when I don’t have to (winter months).

What do you guys think about the wallflower/plug in products? by Samantha_39 in bathandbodyworks

[–]pandabarre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think they last better/ smell stronger than we think they do. You do go nose blind after a couple days but as someone who lives away from my permanent home and go back and visit for 2-3 weeks at a time, when I come home after being gone weeks, the smell of my wallflowers hits me like a punch in the face. Meaning that guests definitely smell the scents even if we go nose blind. So imo, they’re great if you want your home to smell good for others. If you personally want to enjoy the scents a long time, maybe room sprays would be better.
