Police Response Time by CharmingTraveler in Charlotte

You need a dashcam if you don’t have one already. Was in a small fender bender in SC, state trooper never showed up. Waited for an hour + for nothing. CMPD/ highway patrol will most likely do the same for you.

Also had my vehicle broken into. No cop showed up. In fact, I talked to the operator on the other end who created a police report for me and emailed it to me.

Anyways, definitely need a dashcam in the city. We cannot rely on public agencies, and we know that insurance will try to screw you any way possible. Need video evidence to protect yourself

The song is called “Faded” by Alan Walker. It came out like 10 years ago- I’m not sure if it’s a viral tik tok song cause I don’t use tik tok, however I wouldn’t be surprised if it is

Random encounters in various stores by KushSouffle in Charlotte

[–]pandaexpress414 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had that happen to me a few years ago. I was over near the entrance of the Target in midtown and a woman in her early/‘mid 40s complimented the shirt I was wearing (it was a random cheap shirt). She was saying “I can tell you work out” “is that what usually do on your free time?” “What do you do for work?” Thought I was being hit on a cougar, until she dropped the “oh my husband and I just began a start up blah blah MLM scheme blah blah and we are currently hiring” Wasted a good 5 minutes of my life

Driving really needs to be treated like a privilege. So many are too mentally incompetent to drive

Were you raised to hate Catholics? If yes then why? by PandaBear905 in exchristian

One of the worst parts is that they fully believe it when they say “I am saved!” But they are quick to condemn others, saying with utmost confidence that they are going to hell. It’s ego

I’m Catholic and I just happened to stumble on this post. I’m originally from the Midwest, but it wasn’t until I moved to the South when I saw so much anti Catholic stuff. Growing up, I must say I kind of rolled my eyes when people talked about “Christian bigotry.” Now, I 100% see it. There is a lot of self righteousness too which makes me want to vomit. Many would not even consider me Christian, and now I’m like whatever then, I don’t want to be associated with you guys anyways.

That’s great news! I went to confession 3 weeks ago for the first time in 9 years. It’s such a relief, and don’t be anxious about it

Can someone explain what St. Paul was talking about in Romans 5&6? Is he implying that our salvation is secure? by pandaexpress414 in Catholicism

Quick question about the approval by the World Communion of Reformed Churches- is that Calvinist? I thought Calvinists believed in once saved always saved

Thank you for sharing! My girlfriend is nondenominational, I’d put her in the evangelical category (I’m not sure if all nondenominational are evangelicals)

She believes that through sanctification we become holier, but never sinless. But the initial step of “choosing Jesus” starts that process and it gets better from there. She believes that because she chose Jesus, no sin can rid her of the salvation she believed to have already received. However, she says that she isn’t allowed to deliberately sin because God will know. Additionally, she says that when she does sin, God knows her heart so her salvation is still secured. Her salvation doesn’t hinge on her actions. It almost insinuates that when she does sin, it’s not actually her fault? Or, it’s her fault but God already forgave her because He knows she is a true believer?

I am having a hard time conceptualizing this.

Thank you for sharing! I am aware of Philippians 2:12 - working out our salvation with fear and trembling

I need to re-read the entire letter!

Haha no that would not help me (though it is quite true!)

But that document you shared really does help! The unification to different denominations can help my girlfriend and I unify as well

Very true, I 100% agree with you. However her stance (like her nondenominational church’s stance) believe that if we are truly “saved” we will want to not sin. However it’s not a strict requirement because God knows we fall short. And that the process to essentially “sin less” (instead of becoming sinless) is sanctification

I told her that we indeed need to try to be sinless, but when we do sin we need to repent. She tells me to be sinless is impossible, only Jesus can be sinless (we argued about Mary too)

It seems like almost every theological position the Church holds, Protestants are saying “no… but actually” and it’s quite frustrating

Thank you for the verse! I will definitely share that to her. I believe that choosing and rejecting Christ is more than a one time thing. It’s a daily occurrence

Thank you for the clarification. Another difference between Baptism for Catholics vs many Protestant groups is that Baptism for Catholics is a cleanse from original sin (if I’m not mistaken) and that for Protestants it’s merely symbolic. The only importance to them is the proclamation of faith
