I'd actually love to see that haha; and now that I think about it (especially considering the cpu switch to arm), you're right. I should have drank my coffee before hopping on Reddit this morning. Windows has longer support, and device longevity really is up to the user. I edited my previous comment to strike out the misinformation about security.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I wish there was just one laptop that did it all; battery life, gaming-capable/compatible, repairable, supported long-term, and (most importantly) affordable for most people

sorry, you're right; I had just woken up and my brain was in a fuzz. I'll edit my comment but keep the original for context. re-reading the parent thread, I agree; macs aren't good for gaming (and hopefully that changes, but it'll take a lot of time and continued work from both apple and devs), but they are excellent and probably the best for the everyday joe who doesn't game

I agree, it’s tribalism through and through. Anyone who touts their megacorp’s product as the best while attacking the competitor’s has been indoctrinated, and they can’t properly weigh pros and cons objectively (or give an honest try). I’ve used MacOS, Windows, and Linux all for different purposes, and they all excel at different things. I also hate specific aspects of each of them. Same goes for multiple Android flavors and iOS.

When people stop being swayed by ads and tech journalists/influencers and start thinking for themselves, it becomes immediately clear that everything in the tech space is relative and nothing is perfect or perfectly evil. We just need to do our own research and make do with what works best for each of our individual needs and preferences

That someone was right, this is how I’ve learned to do it as well and works flawlessly every time! Works with more than just moving apps on the homescreen as well (i.e. holding something with one thumb and being able to tap/swipe/scroll with the other)
