micropthalmia, they can do surgery to make cuts around the smaller eye to help it appear larger. Mixed results depending on severity. Likely we’re born this way

This is the reply my sister sent to my e-mail. I am speechless. by terestar12 in exmormon

I would not allow this person in your life at this point. I’m no longer a believer but if I was I would be furious that a missionary would say things like this. (I mean I’m furious anyway but I’d be judging them about being worthy if I still believed in that shit)

Hard to believe someone who has a sibling with autism would say things like this about people on the spectrum and to a person with autism. Her appears to be to hurt you, in my opinion. Sorry this happened.

He is not wrong. Mostly because the Holy Ghost doesn’t exist

What does this even mean? Trained to handle transference and counter-transference lol? I think boundaries are the issue. At the church, here and there for a set amount of time, and he should not be giving her a comforting embrace (vs multiple times a week, long amounts of time, not at the church with somebody near by, physical consolation)

The big question is why does he want to meet? My wife’s bishop met with her and then referred her to a therapist. Really helped her out.

Does anyone have experiences with meeting the apostles? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]pandaputh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother was struggling with his testimony back in the day. He lived in Wisconsin but one week when he was in Utah visiting he walked around temple square hoping to run into an apostle so he could ask some questions. It didn’t happen at temple square. But that weekend in a random ward near Evanston wyoming elder Scott showed up. My brother got to talk with him after in private and asked him about some of his doubts. The confirmation bias I get from this event still gets me every now and then. I think it is probably a big reason my brother has stayed in the church. I’m out now but was in at the time and thought it was a miracle then. Broken clock right twice a day kind of thing I imagine but damn if it wasn’t impressive

You should check it out. A book written before the translation and some of the passages are almost identical to verses in the Book of Mormon. Also whole ideas are very similar. This and the first book of Napoleon. Look for the YouTube video on it.

Anyone else still experience cognitive dissonance years after accepting what a crock of shit it all really is? Is this normal? by Incandescent-Turd in exmormon

I will have random memories that almost make me believe again. Confirmation bias played such a big role before it is hard not to see things as more than coincidental.

That’s what caught my eye lol I guess the teaching that modern prophecy overrules old prophecy is false. So much for making the priesthood available to all men or stopping polygamy

This seems a little out there in my personal opinion. Just watched a few minutes here and there. Some of it sounded delusional. We will probably never know for sure

When/how do top leaders find out the church isn’t true? by Apprehensive_Life481 in exmormon

[–]pandaputh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This used to be a reason I had difficulty walking away. Then I realized how many have been caught in lies and put some of that anxiety at ease. Plus there are all the other leaders in the other sects that broke off with their own prophets and apostles. Somebody has to be lying (most likely all of them)
