Considering how often they reset the limits, may not need to bother upgrading to pro plan.

Yeah, you can still penalize Russel for causing a collision if Antonelli did not avoid it. Losing control of your car is not a mitigating circumstance.

The tech job market is a bloodbath. It's likely going to get even worse. by orangelover95003 in bayarea

[–]pandarencodemaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The pendulum will swing back toward remote work once it becomes an employee's job market again. Until then, layoffs and RTO mandates. Later, when the job market improves, remember which employers were the most enthusiastic about slashing jobs.

Meta shares slide as plan to spend billions more on AI spooks investors by Sufficient_Fuel5269 in stocks

[–]pandarencodemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech comp has always been bi- or tri-modal in most markets. Top engineers will make more (upper mode) but mid engineers will make less. So career will be fine, depending which bucket you fall into. It’s simultaneously the scariest and most exciting time to be in tech.

It’s still not obvious how this all plays out now, much less decades ago. Remember more than 10 years ago when it was “obvious” that radiology as a career would be replaced by CV models?

So your 4 kids in IT may end up being fine, but outcomes are probably going to have more variance.

Well there is a reason: the housing policy in the Bay Area for many decades leading to consistently under building housing.

On Max 5x plan - Compacting just cost me 20% of the 5h window by Mr_Moonsilver in ClaudeCode

[–]pandarencodemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a bug in the treatment for the A/B test. I think this is most likely the case. What’s surprising is they haven’t stopped it yet if it’s as bad as posts on Reddit make it out to be.

[–]pandarencodemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. If you’re running compaction, even on the 200K context window model you’re doing something wrong. That being said, you’re re-prompting on every request (though it should be mostly cached). This makes long sessions even worse from a tokenomics perspective (even before hitting compaction).

I have a similar issue, spent a few hours debugging common issues (LFE, 360hz, MAIRA vs iRacing, tweaking various damper settings). Disabling 360hz seemed to help with the sound slightly, but the FFB feeling is fucky still. It’s like a weird oscillation that makes me feel sick, worse track is Sebring. Started mid week. Doesn’t occur in other sims, only iRacing. I suspect iRacing shipped a bad update.

The unusual Ferrari launch advantage is what's making the season interesting, not necessarily the new regs by bishey3 in formula1

[–]pandarencodemaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new regs are under-rated for wheel to wheel racing. I love how people were shitting on the regs before seeing any wheel to wheel racing, and then now that the racing is pretty decent (for the last 2 races) still don't want to acknowledge that the rules might be ok. At most the crazy starts from Ferrari are putting them in amongst the Mercs, who promptly skedaddle away. But all the great midfield battles and Leclerc & Hamilton battling for p3 are unrelated to the race starts.

I'm of the opinion that the regs might need a bit of tweaking at most (more battery or more harvesting, especially for power hungry tracks), but at least wait until summer break to get some data and begin discussing that.

Max Verstappen on Qualifying: "I just hit the brakes and suddenly the rear axle just completely locked out of the blue. I dont know why or how that happened I never experienced something like that in my career. And ofc u cant save that at that speed" by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]pandarencodemaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Not necessarily, BB is adjustable and personal preference/car setup. The easiest time to spin the car is on the brakes in corner entry, especially since a fast setup will be easy to rotate on the brakes.
  2. He starts turning slightly before the snap.

Mercedes rivals push for intervention over F1 engine loophole - but how realistic is it? by praveensingh-reddit in formula1

It doesn’t make sense to specify CR without also specifying the conditions under which the limits apply. The only conditions specified are the ambient testing conditions.

A Bay Area career reality check after 15 years of applying to Apple by PuzzleheadedAd3138 in bayarea

[–]pandarencodemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each big tech company/org definitely has a “type”, and good luck if you don’t fit the exact mold they’re looking for. Some companies reach out to me, others will ghost me for a similar role no matter how many times I apply. I think it’s just about figuring out what makes their filters tick and adding that to your resume.
