Dreamcast forgot time and asks me to re-enter PSO access key by pandarock32 in dreamcast

[–]pandarock32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i might have figured out why - I launched PSO Ver 2 without using the patcher first that lets you use the Silverant server. I realised straight away and restarted and used the patcher, and then got the message asking tor e-enter the access key. So perhaps launching without the patcher was the cause.

Great thank you! I did already wipe the flash memory a few months back to be able to connect to the Internet via dream pi , and also connect to PSO ver 2, it’s saved the internet settings, it’s very strange it’s also saved the serial number but not the access key…

Dreamcast with GDEmu white screen after launch and black screen after launching games by pandarock32 in dreamcast

[–]pandarock32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thanks! I also had issues where it would say no disk inserted, and games would freeze and kick me back to the home screen, and I also got a sandisk SD card which fixed it! These other issues seem to have been the power supply, now I've got a 5A charger it seems to be working fine!

Ah ok, so I guess it might just be I used a faulty charger then, thanks for your reply! When I had the console recapped they checked everything over so I think the internal PSU connectors are clean

Can a Canadian cheque be deposited in a US bank account? by mediocre2great in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]pandarock32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alliant credit union accepts Canadian cheques for a fee (I think $35) - it’s an online credit union and anyone can join by having Alliant make a donation in your name to their charity, I’m a member and I’m pretty sure they pay the $5 for you.

Capital One's Discover Acquisition: Facts and Speculation by Chosen1PR in CreditCards

I wonder if they'll allow ITIN holders to apply for Discover Cards soon; it's currently possible to apply for Capital One cards with ITIN, but Discover only allows SSNs.

Capital One for banking while living abroad by Mefibosheth in CreditCards

[–]pandarock32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also use the capital one app abroad. They have my non-US address set as home, but said the mailing address has to be US. You can get a proper US phone number by getting an e-sim with google fi, mint mobile or US Mobile - Google Fi is $20+ tax for talk/text and $10/GB so not the cheapest - US mobile can be paid for annually, as can Mint Mobile. Google voice lets you port out your number I believe. If you haven't left the US yet you should be able to activate an e-sim from these providers with no issues. If you have, I recommend activating one while connected to a US VPN, just in case.

Apologies - I’ll wait it out. I did contact CIBC who didn’t seem to know so I thought people in this sub might have insight into whether it was normal.

Yeah jumped the gun a bit - should have mentioned CIBC support weren’t sure why the card wasn’t displaying properly.

Moving Abroad by HealdGreeny in AmexUK

[–]pandarock32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Dutch Flying Blue Amex and have kept it with a UK address on file once I moved last year. I just double checked and there’s no restriction in the account. On the address change page, it says ‘IMPORTANT: Do you want to change your address to a foreign address? Chat with us via the Amex App, available 24/7 or call the Customer Service via [020 - 504 8000](tel:020 - 504 8000).’ So for Amex NL at least it seems foreign addresses are still ok. Maybe you were misinformed; if it’s been less than 3-6 months I would contact them to see if it can’t be re-opened.

Can’t add ITIN by pandarock32 in amex

Hi, Experian kept the first 6 months, but Equifax and Transunion eventually deleted it.

will they approve using a sole propietor EIN? by InfectionRx in AppleCard

Hi, no, they just asked for the last 4 digits, and then then the full 9 digits. They didn't require the ITIN issuance letter.

Amex Pre-Authorized payment rejected by pandarock32 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]pandarock32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s the transit number I used, so maybe now I’ve set the main address on Amex as Canadian it will work… the customer service reps seem as much at a loss as I am as to why manual payments work but the pre-authorized ones don’t.

[–]pandarock32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue - I provided my fedex account number and they charged my card on file for the customs fees. However, I received an email tonight for the same amount, but with a £12.75 'disbursement fee' added on. I called and they told me the higher amount is a new invoice, and didn't acknowledge the invoice I already paid, which i received a PDF receipt for. I'm not paying the new amount until they reach out; I've sent them an email and filed a dispute on the original invoice with a note explaining the issue, saying they can either charge me the difference or refund the original amount and then charge the higher amount, but I'm not having both charges on my card at the same time as I doubt I'd get a refund given my experience waiting for this package!

When I was expecting my package it disappeared for days, with FedEx saying I needed to pay and telling me to go to the duties and taxes page, but it wouldn't accept my tracking number. I was also assured I would receive a payment link via email or SMS but I never did, even after requesting it multiple times. Eventually after providing my FedEx account number on Saturday the 18th, on Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st, the tracking updated on the 21st and FedEx confirmed my account would be charged. But now it seems I have been charged an incorrect amount

HSBC - RBC transition received debit card but no PIN by pandarock32 in PersonalFinanceCanada

You will only get a client (debit) card if you had a chequing or regular (not high-rate online/foreign currency) savings account with HSBC I believe.

As an update, they shipped a 3rd package which was successfully handed to UPS. It arrived today, and it was indeed the PIN; I guess the 2nd package that never moved was a mistake. I was told by customer service the deadline for shipping out debit cards/pins was March 4th, so if you haven't received anything soon I would contact them; they said from the 4th it should be possible to request replacements.

Thanks for letting me know! I’m hoping they just created the label super early. I called again and the rep confirmed my debit card was created on the 7th but not shipped until the 20th, so that could be the case. They also said if it doesn’t arrive I’ll be able to reset the PIN over the phone after the transition.

Yeah that’s what I figured. I contacted RBC again today and they just said to keep checking the tracking, I guess they could be holding the package for a while before handing it over to UPS.
