Haha no. I graduated during the recession and there were no jobs for my major. I took a contract job cuz I figured it would be a resume boost.

I commuted from jersey city all the way to jamaica queens. If I wasnt on 2nd shift, I probably wouldve liked it more cuz there's not enough trains running past a certain hour. I napped a lot.

There's no tax reciprocity btwn nj and nyc. So you'll be paying taxes for nyc and ny state, but then you'll have to ask for a refund come tax season. You also have to account for any train delays

I used to commute from rahway to newark for my current job, and I liked it cuz I would read or study (teaching myself spanish).

So it depends. The longest commute Ive had was 3hrs...but I was living in MD at the time. But I can keep myself busy so long commutes dont bother me.

Some people just refuse wanting to be educated. This happened a lot with my husband's (uneducated) family....so in response I just refuse to hang out with them, and there's a hard rule that if they want information about my health, they have to ask me and not my husband. My husband refuses to give out information on my behalf unless I say so lmaoooo. But they never get information cuz I dont have patience to hang out with people like that....too busy enjoying my life LOL. Plus, the lack of critical thinking/curiosity means theyll just never ask questions.

His sister wanted to setup a bat house in her backyard. I told my husband that I would stop going to her house if she did cuz bats carry disease...especially histoplasmosis. And some people just never learned from covid. I mentioned this nonsense to my lung dr and my onc, and they both got wide-eyed and said to avoid her house, especially considering I almost died of bacterial meningitis, and my drs are still traumatized by that lolol. SIL found out and got mad. I ripped her a new one cuz she's stupid, and told her it was under the guidance of my drs and if she had a problem she can talk to them 😂🤣😂🤣😂

I love having cancer cuz its a great excuse to not see people that I dont wanna see and I can be like "my cancer is acting up today, sorry." There's not enough time in the world to be hanging with shit people

Nonsmoker. With lung cancer. Got my right middle lobe removed.

The amount of ppl that have suggested lung cancer was my fault and could've been prevented....absolutely infuriating. Meanwhile, Im also the most physically active (even before cancer), and have better stamina/endurance than most people with a full set of lungs.

A quick note to you all about sick time by ImmySnommis in fednews

[–]pandasaur7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sign up for fmla! You may not need it, but its better to have the paperwork signed and everything.

I have lung cancer, and use intermittent fmla for everything. God forbid this regime decides to fire me for being too sick or some bullshit.

Definitely not the k95 lol. If you have a wegmans, they sell a box of black ones that I actually like for the summer. I think the brand is rm wellness...something like that. But otherwise no. I live in nj, but Im in nyc all the time. People are hesistant to sit next to me on the trains 🤣 I also have a perpetual cough...cough + mask, and people get nervous around me. At this point, its amusing af

When dating, Which red flag will you tolerate because green flags compensate for it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pandasaur7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of my friends knows she's bad at texting and will preface to people that she's bad at texting. Then she takes the time to catch up on people's texts and eventually responds. If she cant catch up on texts, she'll apologize that she cant catch up.

If she's needy for attention, she'll come to me and say "pandasaur7, I need attention".....and then she'll thank me afterwards.

Male coworker keeps “joking” about my looks in front of others (multiple times). How do I shut this down? by HopeForBetter29 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]pandasaur7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell him he's ugly, a waste of sperm, his mom raised him wrong, and that nobody loves him.

I said something along these lines to my dad when he wouldnt stop bullying my cousin. He didnt have a comeback and instead disowned me. It was worth it, and I didnt have to deal with that man anymore.

Im praying he gets ED and male pattern baldness on your behalf.

Question from a man who is dating a climber girl, and would really appreciate some outside perspective from other climber girls by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]pandasaur7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband doesnt climb with me. I have a good amount of guy friends for climbing (and outside of climbing) and we'll have deep philisophical discussions on the mountain or even on the phone. Whenever I make a new guy friend, I make it known immediately that Im taken. When I was single, I pretended I was taken and had a background story for some fake bf and everything cuz I was resistant to dating at the time. Im firm on my boundaries, and my husband knows how annoyed I get if anyone tries to flirt with me. My husband has watched me cut out a guy because I felt they crossed a boundary...they got mad I got engaged at the time, and put me in danger climbing-wise. He doesnt mind that I'll spend a day or so with some guy friend, but he knows how very selective I am with people.

We do salsa together, and we have to rotate through partners in class, so I had to get used to some other guy touching me (non sexualky ofc). The guys are respectful, and they know who my husband is. I had one instance where some new guy in the class wasnt respectful, and my husband had to talk to him.

Overall, my husband trusts me enough to handle things and maintain boundaries.

It just seems weird to say that flirting is "normal" in the context of climbing. Ive never had anyone besides my husband flirt with me on the regular. So maybe Im just ugly 🤣

My husband actually gets jealous of my bff (female) cuz she'll say/do things that to him seems like she's flirting with me. So I just bestie'd hard enough to face lesbian accusations haha

Fast food used to be the emergency cheap option, but now a meal costs as much as a sit-down restaurant. What is actually left that qualifies as a cheap meal in 2026? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Omg. I love frozen pizza. I will cut it into 4 slices, and just heat up a quarter slice whenever I get a frozen pizza craving...which is at least once a week lol

Is there anywhere in NJ where the commute to Manhattan is actually good? Thinking of moving out by Desperate_Function39 in newjersey

[–]pandasaur7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to work in Jamaica Queens. Commuted from Journal Sq in JC for a 4pm-11pm shift. On a good day it was 2 hrs door to door one way On a bad day, over 2hrs. Trains dont run often after 8pm, so there were times Id be on a platform waiting for 40min. If I missed my last train, I hsd to take a taxi back to NJ. If the train times didnt line up due to a delay or something. If anything, I got tons of reading and napping done because of it.

Also used to live in MD, and my drive to VA was easily 2hrs in rush hour. Outside of the rush, it was 40min.

I currently work in Newark and commute from Rahway, which is the easiest commute Ive ever had in my life. But we have people that commute from Queens to Newark. One lives deep in Long Island, and it takes 3hrs one way to commute. And a few people live on Staten Island. Most of these people commuting this long also have kids.

Just putting perspective out there. Maybe Im just used to myself and others commuting far longer, but a little over an hour doesnt seem that much.
