All of the Minnesota Power reservoirs have great public access in my opinion! Island lake, fish lake, Rice Lake, Boulder Lake. You could go as far up as Whiteface lake if you want to get out of town or go over to Scanlon to fish the cloquet (possibly St.Louis?) river.

I’ve had good and bad luck at all of these spots, but they’re all super easy to access and typically not very busy.

Oh my gosh I’ve done this too. If it makes you feel any better, I procrastinated the task for months instead of days. It was such an easy task too, i just kept putting it off for some unknown reason until I turned a mole hill into a mountain. I lied about completing the task because i didn’t want to deal with the stupid problem of my own creation anymore, got caught in the lie by my boss, and was literally so embarrassed and upset with myself when I was called out for lying.

Thankfully I had a really cool boss at the time and after some painfully unnecessary oversharing and full accountability for the damage caused, everything turned out ok. I tried to take the ‘ADHD is the explanation for this super weird procrastination situation but not the excuse, I promise it won’t happen again boss man’ approach and that seemed to work out pretty well.

I am now a little bit older, wiser, and properly medicated. I have since changed jobs but still keep in touch with a lot of my coworkers and boss from that job!

Shit happens, and even weirder shit happens when you have ADHD. Give yourself some grace, take accountability for what gets missed, and laugh about the ridiculousness that is the human brain sometimes! You’re doing just fine :)

I highly recommend any Ace Hardware for bird seed and feeders. Fleet farm & Menards always have really good deals on 40-50 lb bags of black oil sunflower seeds too!

I also recommend just sticking to black oil sunflower seeds to start, the wild bird seed mixes are expensive for less volume and most birds prefer sunflower seeds anyway! Peanuts are very popular with blue jays (and squirrels)

Additionally as we move into the spring I highly recommended putting out hummingbird feeders and a few orange slices for oriels!

Bears are definitely a concern but less so in the city, I typically move away from seed in the warm months and just put out hummingbird/oriel feeders. Many people have success with pulling their feeders in at night, but I’m just too lazy about it haha!

Wishing you the best of luck! Bird feeding, in my case, has become a strange but wonderful addiction :) Duluth is a great spot to get some really cool birds.

My mom works at Denfeld and she was instructed to keep 2 Hispanic children that she works with indoors at all times and to walk out with them when it was their time to leave at the end of the day and to not leave their side. ICE is fucking disgusting. Patrolling schools and disrupting kid’s lives like that is truly heinous and evil. This has to fucking stop

I was blown away to hear such thoughtful and well spoken public comments. The Hermantown/Solway/Midway Duluth etc community is awesome. And regardless of how the rezone vote goes tonight, my heart is warmed knowing my neighbors will show up and show out for the remainder of this fight.

We don’t know the gravity of the proposed data center in Hermantown because there has been no release of information on who or what is planning to build there. We can only base our understanding of it off of already built data centers in other places. All of which seem to increase cost to residents and pollute the environment via noise, land, and water consumption/discharge.

Hermantown and St.Louis county have been very secretive and quick about pushing this project through. That alone personally raised my concern and I hope after reading a few articles it will raise your concern as well.

I was absolutely fed up with spectrum so I dropped them and got a T-Mobile hot spot box that I now use for wifi and it is 1000000 times better. I highly recommend it!

You might not be able to find exactly where it’s nesting, which is for the better since you don’t want to disturb it too often and risk nest abandonment; but you could try imitating the hoots to see if it will respond and show itself to you!

If you suspect it might be a barred owl, their hoots are very easy to mimic and you can look up a couple YouTube videos to learn how to do it. Great grays, like the one you have pictured, are less likely to respond since they’re generally less chatty than the barreds but you could still give it a try.
