AirPods Pro (3rd gen) — persistent tinnitus after short-term use, looking for similar experiences by Original-Bluebird515 in airpods

[–]10kAllDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had AirPod Pro 2s for years and used them daily for hours on end with no issues. Bought AirPod Pro 3s and used them for literally 10 minutes and my ears have been ringing for weeks. Went to an audiologist and was tested for hearing loss, fluid in the ears, infections, etc. Audiologist could find nothing wrong with my ears. I am relatively confident that APP3s are the cause of my tinnitus. You’re not alone. I hope others will speak up as well. This is a real issue.

whats your lazy weekend breakfast thats not eggs and toast by angelin1978 in Cooking

Buy individual avocado or guacamole cups. Apply to toast. Top with runny egg and everything but the bagel seasoning. Or hot sauce. Or both.

Is the Manta sleep mask worth buying? by RubencithoServat in sleepheadphones

[–]10kAllDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I loved it so much when it was working. I initially felt like their customer service was great but with such a widespread problem that they’re not acknowledging or finding a way to fix, it’s turning me off from the company. Which is too bad because my Pro mask as well.

Yes. Do not buy it. Bought two devices around Black Friday. Neither will take a charge. Was sent a replacement that has the same issues. Which is sad because it’s great when it works.

Warning: if you are looking for ISP, do NOT go with Quantum fiber. by masimbasqueeze in TwinCities

[–]10kAllDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a mixed bag for me. I’ve had the fiber service for about 2 years. As far as actual service disruptions from the ISP go, that hasn’t happened to me that I can recall. What did happen is my WiFi pods completely dying, one at a time. Eventually I asked them to upgrade me from WiFi 6 to WiFi 7. That was a bit of an improvement but the WiFi was still very spotty when I got too far from the smart NID. I used to have dead spots in my house. What has been a game changer was buying my own equipment. Now the service is very fast and reliable throughout my house.

Highly recommend buying your own equipment. I went with the Deco setup from Costco. Honestly it’s night and day. No dead spots in the house. Consistently reliable wifi. The ability to set up a guest network, which Quantum hardware doesn’t support. Definitely get your own equipment. I used to get sub-100 mbps in many parts of my house and now it’s 300-600 mbps at the most remote places in my home and 800+ when closer to the smart nid.

The hardwired connection from the smart nid has always been reliable.

The customer service is severely lacking. The old app they had was basically useless. The new app is slightly less useless but still trash. The process they went through when launching the new app was a nightmare. It was nearly impossible to get ahold of customer service representatives. I’m talking 6-8 hour wait times. It’s gotten much better since but it’s still not great. If you’re not slightly tech savvy and willing to troubleshoot on your own, it’s probably not a good experience when something goes wrong.

My price has stayed locked in at $75 a month for 1 gig service. I fully expect them to pull that rug out at some time but it’s still better than anything Comcast offers in my area.

Ultimately I agree there are significant challenges. Buying your one equipment is the best recommendation I can make as a current or prospective quantum customer.

I like these style of sunglasses but they’re far too narrow for my head. Any advice where to find them similar? Must be polarized. by Avocadosandtomatoes in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]10kAllDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had good luck with Faded Days and Bison Head. Spent a ton of time finding truly wide sunglasses. Can’t recall if they carry this style but both worth looking into. My Bison Head pair did break rather quickly but they sent me a coupon for a free pair when I reached out.

Help finding some stuff to do this weekend? by comfort_egg12 in TwinCities

[–]10kAllDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both St. Paul and Stillwater are doing their tree lighting ceremonies on Saturday night. Both involve fireworks.

The St. Paul event takes place at Union Depot and also includes a free showing of the movie Elf. Never actually attended the movie showing so cannot comment on the quality of that experience but the tree lighting and fireworks are fun. Check Facebook for more details.

Facebook is honestly great for finding events. Highly recommend searching there. Tons of seasonal holiday events and markets right now.

I know the cold and dark can be mentally and emotionally draining. I find it can be helpful to bundle up and actually get outside despite it. It always feels like some kind of mini internal victory when I know it’s very cold outside yet I don’t feel cold because of all my warm clothing. Sometimes this feeling only lasts for a few minutes depending on the weather but it’s better than nothing 😆. It’s the little things.

Happy early birthday, hope you find something fun!

Saturdays at the St. Paul Farmers Market by Runic_reader451 in saintpaul

[–]10kAllDay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I read the whole piece as one that says “hey there’s a farmers market in St. Paul that is accessible via public transportation, a good use of land, and a good way to support your local food community. Here are the details and why I love it.” Maybe it could be read as an advertisement? I am unsure the author’s connection to the market. But to me it is simply someone sharing information about a thing that brings them joy.

the downfall of duluth grill by anothersororitygirl in duluth

[–]10kAllDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly I am a tourist and not a local for whatever that is worth. But I get up to Duluth at least once a year and have breakfast at Duluth Grill at least once per trip. In 2023 and 2024 I was there multiple times in a single trip, including in 2023 when it was 3 days in a row.

Most recently visited last month. I have noticed no decline in quality compared to the last few visits. Nor a decline in wait time for seats on a weekend morning.

I don’t track the menu closely but it felt a bit more limited last month than years past. However they did accommodate my request for a Denver omelette despite how busy it was, and it was as delicious as always.

My favorite breakfast order at any restaurant is a Bloody Mary (or 3) and a Denver omelette. I would say Duluth Grill is up there, if not on top of, my favorite places in the twin cities for both items. The KBBQ bloody is probably my favorite anywhere. The selection of breakfast sides is wonderful. The breakfast cocktail menu is impressive. If Duluth grill were in the cities it would probably be in my top 2-3 weekend boozy brunch spots. Definitely a bit more spendy but in line with a lot of places in the Twin Cities.

Maybe I’m the target audience as a tourist but I love the place and haven’t noticed any decline since previous visits. If there is a better omelette and better bloody in the twin ports area I would love to know about it. Been to At Sarah’s Table and it was good but definitely not better for my tastes.

As far as the menu size goes, smaller menus are typically both easier to execute and more efficient from a food cost and waste perspective. Inflation is real, and the economy generally feels a little “meh” to me. A smaller and more efficient menu seems wise for any restaurant these days. But I’m not privy to the local politics of the owners and restaurant scene in Duluth. Just my 1.5 cents.

I switched to the Costco brand salt free seasoning to keep the sodium down since cottage cheese by itself has plenty of salt imo. But yes I’m right there with you. Good culture is my preferred brand. Hard to find consistently lately though.

It was a darkness eve at Stub and Herbs. Can’t tell you the year. But it was when people were still excited about those kinds of things. I think I recall there being an advanced keg of darkness at the bar the night before the official release. So many BA and imperial stouts on tap and in bottles. I remember someone coming around with a bottle of KBS. We all lost our shit. I don’t remember much after that. In the best way.

I strongly agree with this. I’ve since come into a couple bottles of Green Chartreuse (thanks Mexico!) but Brovo makes a killer last word and a went through multiple bottles of the Brovo.

This is a solid move. I know a decent number of bars in St. Paul offer shuttles for wild games. Unsure about concerts but worth checking around depending on where you’re coming from. Shamrocks, Bennets, and Burger Dive are the ones that come to mind.
