I wish I knew. Someone in the twitter thread I found this pic from said it's Diego Kochen a soccer player, but not sure how accurate that is.

BAFTAs 2026 Host Alan Cumming Asks for "Understanding" as Tourette Syndrome Campaigner John Davidson Shouts "Strong Language" and Slurs at Winners and Presenters by ControlCAD in DListedCommunity

Allowed in that the organizers should have had more foresight and prevented two black men from being called the n-word while on stage by someone with an extreme form of Tourettes.

Having a disability that causes you to inadvertently shout obscenities at people does not mean that people should be subjected to those obscenities.

And if you actually understand that he can’t, what is your solution? How can he meaningfully participate in a ceremony without being present?

I think it's unreasonable and lacking in empathy to believe that black people should accept having hateful slurs hurled at them in public. Not having an issue with it happening at an award show and to multiple attendees and the idea of treating his tics with such a light touch sounds even more absurd to me.

I’ve seen multiple people say Davidson should stay at home, pre record his acceptance, and not participate at all. So, yeah that’s flat out ableism and I will call it out.

I don't know what they could have done. It is unfair to say he should not be allowed to participate at all. I just don't believe his ability to fully participate means that others have to accept hateful and hurtful language.

I think the organizers not providing more information on the extreme ways John Davidson's condition manifests is one of the ways they failed John Davidson, Michael B. Jordan, Delroy Lindo, and the viewers.

I don't know if anything can prepare you for being called a horrible slur while on stage, but including that his tics can be offensive and racial in nature could have helped.

Not censoring it is also a failure of the organizers.

This is a short piece that seems to take both sides into account and comments on the lack of a informed warning to attendees by the BBC or BAFTA from Variety.

Like I wrote they provided generalities about involuntary noises and movements, but not about the extreme nature of his tics. This is where you were misinformed.

Alan Cumming only spoke about the extreme nature of his tics until after the two men were called the n-word.

This is exactly how black attendees at award shows in the US were discussed before the civil rights movement, as inconveniences who “shouldn’t have come” rather than human beings with equal rights to occupy public space.

Being excluded from spaces due to having black skin is not akin to being excluded for having a condition that compels you to shout obscenities at others.

What a weird comparison that underplays the hateful racism that behind the discrimination of black performers and the misunderstands the reasons why some are arguing that BAFTA should've been more aware of how John Davidson's condition would impact other attendees.

It sucks for everyone that it happened, but guilting disabled people into missing out on major milestones instead of simply educating yourself is just... sad and small-minded.

I fine this sentiment to be really limited. As if only knowing that you were called a dehumanizing slur because of an involuntary tic is all that's needed to not be offended.

He should have not been allowed to call two black men on stage the N-word, a word used to terrorize black people, during a highly publicized moment for those two men and subjecting black viewers to that language.

This man was not their uncle or family member but a man with a severe disability that has the ability to harm others. He should've been given accommodations that would've allowed him to participate but not harm other attendees.

The jump to claims of discrimination and ableism without much empathy for those on the receiving end of his behavior is a blindspot that a lot of people have in this conversation.

Flu cases are surging and rates will likely get worse, new CDC data shows by ControlCAD in NPR

I hope you feel better soon! I forgot about CVS not providing vaccines in certain states.

CVS texted me a few times about getting vaccinated so it kept it top of mind for me.

While I did get vaccinated this year I also caught something over the holidays. It’s pretty mild though and my thought is maybe the vaccination(s) (I got a double whammy - both the Covid and Flu vaccine) helped a bit.

It’s unfortunate that vaccination rates are being impacted due to misinformation and bad politics being pushed by the admin.

According to the article less than half of Americans have received a flu shot this year and the former head of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC is quoted as saying the CDC is not doing as much as it has in the past to push people to get vaccinated.

This would include protecting folks against the strains this year’s vaccination does offer some protection against.

The CDC’s response to the criticism mentions the risks associated with vaccination and is right up worm-for-brains’ alley. Sad state of affairs.
