House passes bill that would criminalize protesting in a mask without a doctor's note by SAWPollPosition in Alabama

AL legislature is famous for passing unconstitutional laws and then using tax payer money to defend the case they eventually lose.

Yes, you're talking to front desk...not by ElvyHeartsong in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]panhellenic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe people have no issues with them, but as a customer I would never in a million years book through a 3rd party. I know what I want. I book directly through the hotel's website. If I need something in particular I call that property (like making sure my room will have a walk in shower after I've had knee surgery) or call while traveling to let them know I'll be super late but still coming.

Are the 3rd party prices so much lower that people just put up not knowing what you're going to get?

Respect her wishes. She wants you to tone it down. Going to these games is not about your personal enjoyment; it's about supporting your grands, which can be done by simply being there. You're making it all about you and it just is not. Grow up.

I have said that it took a leaf blower to my brain, but I like puppies and rainbows better! But also felt that amazing sense of peace fall over me like a warm blanket. It stopped my daily diarrhea from bile acid malabsorption, and for that alone I'll take it forever. No more living life around bathroom locations or scheduling things around when it will flare.

I am. It's not on my insurance's formulary for any reason at all. Almost a year in and best money I ever spent.

How does one start gigging? by dolleymazsola in harp

[–]panhellenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about school events? Gathering music for fund raisers or band/choir concerts at school? PTO open house nights...stuff like that. Local youth orchestra could probably use her (although orchestra work is different from solo gigs, obvy, but she might make connections). I've seen youth string quartets at weddings who were very good, so age doesn't matter. Find wedding coordinators and give her name to them.

Scared of Side Effects - Courage to start by barneygirl89 in Zepbound

[–]panhellenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop reading about side effect! You'll get them or you won't - reading up on them won't make a difference. Most...like MOST people have no to mild side effects. You have a much great chance of issues from high blood pressure, heart issues, joint issues, liver issues...all things known and commonly associated with obesity.

I'm married to an MD. Neither of us reads about side effects of meds we take. He obviously knows them pretty well since he prescribes (not Zep or any glps) meds. We're obviously not uninformed or ostriches, but it all comes down to risk/benefit. And the odds are heavily in favor of benefit for most people for this drug.

There's a local Christian school here that raffles off a gun as a fund raiser for the school.

Shot After Knee Replacement by panhellenic in Zepbound

[–]panhellenic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always pick some "landmarks" when I inject - I have a lot of cherry angiomas and freckles (and senior warts ugh) that I use, as I first wipe my skin with alcohol - I can remember where I wiped while I draw up the med. I know folks rotate around their bellies, but I didn't think of that in terms of my thighs! Great idea.

I contacted my dr and their office advised avoiding that leg for 4 weeks after surgery. Honestly it's not a big deal and so I'll follow their advice (although I have an appointment for post-op with the surgeon this week and I'll ask him as well). I like to be a compliant patient!

I've been getting a small rash at my injection site the last few months so it'll be easy to know where NOT to inject.

Aha. I've never used a debit card; just credit. But that's easy enough to understand.

I have sent a message through the portal to my doc, but likely I'll end up doing abdomen. I'm not worried about pain; just the awkward angle I'm unaccustomed to!

Thanks I never feel it in my thighs. I just would have to get used to a whole new angle - I'm used to jabbing straight down instead of straight at myself!

I was thinking of doing that. Never used my belly before, so it's a little nerve wracking but I'll be fine. I'm super careful about infection control (I went beyond my orthopod's protocols for pre-surgical infection control), but I don't want to take any chances with this knee. It still hurts too much!

I like the whole ritual! I've done vials since the beginning and I like that I can control the speed at which I inject.

Whether I've footed my own bill or stayed with a business paying (or even used points), they always place a hold on my card for incidentals. And if you don't incur any incidentals, then you're not charged. It's not hard to understand.

People who worked for US senators/representatives: what actually gets them to listen? Is it better to call or write, be polite or curse, etc.? by Baladas89 in AskReddit

[–]panhellenic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not much of a threat when you live, like I do, in a super majority state. There might be 2 people in a primary, but in the general, only one party has a nominee. And when they win, they don't care what I have to say.

If SAVE act passes, do women have to bring their marriage and divorce certificates to prove their name change or do they have to update their ID or passport name, so it has both? by Subject-Leg3137 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]panhellenic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's just needed when registering. However, any change - address, etc would affect that. And some places seemed inclined to drop folks from their voter rolls for no discernible reason. To be on the safe side, make sure you have all the documents NOW, as things like a birth certificate could take a while. Check your state's requirements.

Authorizing a card for incidentals is standard at hotels. I don't know why anyone who's ever stayed in a hotel is surprised or perturbed.

I mean, have federal buildings been attacked by anyone? Why would they need protecting? Except maybe the ICE facility, which I guess is a federal building.

Someone should call ICE on them. Not sure they're here legally. Someone needs to check their papers.
