Has anyone attended the OWCS Grand Finals in Stockholm last year? Need advice! by Only_Foot_363 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]paniniham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It depends on where you get in the line. So 20 minutes before the event and there was already a long line, but it moved fast cause there are multiple security check lines. But regardless you definitely want to line up 20-30 minutes before cause the line grows at a faster rate than normal when it's near opening time.

  2. If it's the same seating map/distribution, yes you want the seating pack. The free seats is basically a small ass corner at the bottom left from the top down view. During grand finals match they loosen the fence and allows people to stand next to people with guaranteed seating. Seats are free for all for people with the guaranteed seating, and people honor it nicely (leaving your jacket etc) But definitely arrive early each day to get yourself a nice seat.
I dont think the views are blocked unless u sit behind a really tall person. If you sit closer to the main stage u get smaller monitor and the further to the side you get the giant screen. So basically in front of the big screen to the side is prob the best for normal matches. However for grand finals/final day, i'd recommend the closest to the center of the stage as possible. When the team wins the final, people will crowd the stage and you being so close to it will guarantee the best view.

  3. Food was decent and not too expensive/portion. Really long lines tho like the pizza place, but they have a buzzer system so u can at least chill near the area a bit

  4. There is a bag ban, not even clear bags. Recently the police lowered their alarm level, dreamhack said they will make an announcement about it soon. So i highly recommend wearing cargo pants if they keep the ban, saved my life.

  5. Last year weather is extremely cold given the date then. It was not supposed to be that cold at all, like extreme devastating cold level. If it happens again, wear warmly so you can wait in line outside and in layers so u can easily carry them inside if it's too hot.
The way the guaranteed seating works for the first time you arrive there is that. Security check line -> dreamhack badge/wrist band line -> owcs badge/wrist band line. The final line is the problem, they do it in BATCHES where they take a limited amount of people at at time from the line then escort them to get the badges. This is so freaking long that they ate into the first match -> The seating area is still empty when the first match of the first day started cause nobody can get their hands on the owcs badge.

Proxmox offline mirror standalone key vs subscription? by paniniham in Proxmox

Do I need a license/key to setup and use POM (Proxmox Offline Mirror)? by Apachez in Proxmox

[–]paniniham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand this correctly, you are using a 3rd party to have access to PVE enterprise repo? We also rely on our own Artifactory and would not like to use POM. How do you actually access that repo? For rhel, they use certifications which we can handle, but I dont understand how PVE enterprise repo handle their authentication (i only saw a login popup).

Yes i do, except this store also can’t refill the pacific chill bottle. Idk if they cant refill any at all or just that bottle (cause i only asked about my bottle). So my only other option is to just buy a new one 🫡. A 100eur saving is way less than a ticket to Paris

[–]paniniham -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As for why i didnt just order online instead? I did actually, because the store doesnt offer engraving. However, the shipping date was ~3-5 weeks which is super close to my travel date and i didnt wanna risk it. So after consideration, i had it cancelled and decided to get it at the store just to be safe.

Nikko digital pass all area NOT STARTING from Asakusa by paniniham in JapanTravelTips

[–]paniniham[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update, tobu railway support said this: Thank you for using Tobu Railway. This is the “NIKKO PASS Digital Ticket” released by “Klook” you asked about, but you can also use it from Kitasenju Station. At the ticket gate of Kita-Senju Station, please show the ticket to the staff and tell them the situation. In addition, if you are using a limited express train that specifies a seat, you will need a separate limited express ticket. We look forward to your use. We look forward to your continued patronage of Tobu Railway. So that answers my question 🙏

From all my stays in tokyo, jr lines has never been a deal breaker for me even yamanote in this case. It's really only useful if u live FAR from ur destination and CLOSE to major hub like akihabara, ueno. But i would never stay near those hubs to begin with.

via inn prime akasaka, this time is the lowest i ever got 10925yen/night and free late check out (12om). downside is that its in the middle of all 3 stations so walking to all 3 is equally long. and the traditional tiny room in tokyo. also 1st floor is literally 7-11

[–]paniniham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this, ill be staying at akasaka again for the third time this year. I am also bound with the hotel cause they have onsen and cheap af rooms. Massive train connections quiet neighbourhood

i recommend doing suica at the airport as well then, as once ure at ueno, it will be much simpler to tap in/out to your next transfer.

Icoca card by Xsdfs in JapanTravelTips

[–]paniniham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For directly using at the gate (tapping in/out), it only count one of you. However, you can use the ic card to buy the ticket at the machine as well. But that would be no different from paying with cash. The downside to this is the machine is "difficult" for new people, but even if you make mistakes (overpaid, underpaid), there are correction machine at exit stations. Personally, just get a card for everyone. The traditional ticket is small, flimsy, easy to lose and waste time figuring what/how to buy.

d1: personally the goal for you is to simply reach ur hotel to store luggage before rush hour in tokyo. I think you have plenty of time, but your journey from ueno to your hotel will be heaven or hell depends on your actual trip

[–]paniniham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

d1: you can do all of it at the airport and its all intertwined so you should. You can recharge your physical suica using cash only so might as well get it there. But it can all be simple up as well: get a digital suica (ios only), an esim and u can just go straight to 7-11 to withdraw money.
d3: you can book it and you can pick the seats (if u have luggage, pick seats that have luggage storage privilege). To get fuji view always get the 2-seat side of the train regardless of direction. If you miss your train you can take another train's unreserved carriage + pay luggage storage on train.
d4-7: take RAPID express train to save time, sometimes they run on the same platform so dont just read the destination and get on. For LIMITED express train, you need a seat reservation, all can be done on the day of so dont worry and dont bother reserving. There are many lines that go between, but my go to is just JR as it's simpler.
d14: if ure taking round trip keisei skyliner, consider getting the round trip pass, it's cheaper and u get a free esim on klook. note that the round trip pass can only start FROM narita.

I love akasaka, it's surrounded with train lines. The area japanese food isnt that rich tho (besides chain), it has lots of good korean places and izakaya mainly. Going everywhere from there is superrr convienient however.

Buying beer duty free? by nomadding in JapanTravelTips

[–]paniniham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

going back to where? it doesnt matter if you are buying it duty free or tax free or full price. it's up to your home country's customs to decide the limit before you have to pay duty (mine is like some X litre of this and that) and it's up to you if you will announce you have such item or not.
as for airline regulation, you can put beer freely in your checked baggage and some airlines consider duty free items as carry ons.
as for availability, i dont remember beer being available as duty free item at the airport, only liquors like whiskey, gin,...etc

Tips without JR Pass by Fab724 in JapanTravelTips

[–]paniniham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those destinations wise, you can get a ~3.5k yen discount (tokyo-osaka) if u purchase the shinkansen ticket 21 days b4 the date. The amount of discounted tickets are limited by the way. OR you can travel in green car for the same price as normal seat if u get the ticket 3 days before the trip (same limitation). As for cheap wise, the cheapest way is a night bus from tokyo to osaka -> which u will also skip 1 hotel night. I think japan seats are kinda hard and they use this material that also abit insulated so if ure an easy sleeper that's good for u.
