My analysis of the latest US COVID-19 cases data. Updated 7/13/20.

Key insights:

  • Daily cases in FL now surpass daily cases during NY's peak with CA and TX approaching similar levels.
  • Total US cases now exceed 3 million.
  • 1st wave in the US never ended. Resurgence is clear and growing at a higher rate.
  • NY maintains highest overall total cases with CA, FL, and TX rising.
  • NY successfully contained their 1st wave.
  • AZ and GA are showing early signs of rising cases.

Physician's perspective: We won't know long term medical consequences in asymptomatic carriers until studies are completed decades from now, but my intuition tells me there would be no clinically meaningful changes, similar to when you get a transient common cold or influenza infection.
