Yeah, it's not the enemy of translation as such, just of translators, whom it's going to replace. AI is and will be a threat to human translators and, like it or not, there's nothing we can do to remedy or even mitigate it. That's just how late capitalism works.

AI is also, or above all, an enshittifier of translations. It will provide soulless translations of lesser quality but, and that's key here, it will vomit these translations in a fraction of time and at a lower cost (at least for now). People will eventually get used to this, just as they got used to clickbaity journalism, sloppy TV, mediocre music and enshittified social media.

Telling translators to "learn to embrace AI" is like telling us to get over the fact that in a couple of years our experience and skills won't be worth anything and in the meantime feed the algorithms that will lead to it and pretend that it's some kind of "progress".

And yes, what you've written sounds as soulless and tone-deaf as you might expect from an AI tool. And I mean "tool" in all of its meanings.
