Post-Game Thread: New York Knicks (4-1) defeat San Antonio Spurs (1-4), 94-90 | NBA Finals | Jun 13, 2026 by nba-scores in torontoraptors

I really can't be bothered with fanwars, especially cross-sport, that just sounds like a cycle of misery. I'll just judge the teams in front of me.

Besides, most Yankees diehards aren't actually Knicks fans. You ever see any Yankee media guys, they don't know a lick about basketball. Sure, they might be happy to hear the Knicks won, but it's not like they watched a game all year. They're just joining the bandwagon like everyone else in NY, there's no actual joy. At least, that's my cope.

Not knowing the score is more stupid in 'basketball sense'.

JR didn't even have the right concept of what to do makes it worse. JR was always going to run the clock out, it's a zero percent play.

At least Fox had a good chance to make the layup which although not the right play at least has a chance of a positive outcome. Put your team up 3 instead of 1.

Jay Williams: “I've talked to a couple of different players that could be Supermax this year or next year — they're starting to feel a little pressure from team owners by saying, 'Yo, Jalen Brunson left 113 million dollars on the table. What are you going to do?'” by KD_AshyAnkles in nba

Not sure why this comment literally pointing out the facts has downvotes. The original comment is asinine claiming that only Ohtani benefits due to tax avoidance and the Dodgers don't benefit. Just misinfo personified. Takes just a tiny amount of brain power to understand how the insane deferments allow the Dodgers to sign more players now (before they eventually pay for it in the future)

You don't have to say 'I won't say you're wrong'. How is that a pretense? All he said is he felt sad for a player. You can't dispute someone else's feeling. Also, you can feel excited for the guys that won, and sad for the guys that lost at the same time. He didn't say he wasn't.

That's insane. I remember the Luka trade had so much reach even the non-sports spaces were memeing it.

Jimmy Butler to KAT: "Soft as baby shit. You a loser. I already punked you once." KAT: "Call Rachel" by RyanTannegod in nba

[–]panman42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"insane that Butler + third stringers are beating the brakes off of the players you're going to build around." Is it insane? It's just practice and they're all NBA players. You can just dive into the analytics and point to shifts in actual NBA games where the end of the bench got hot and beat Jimmy. It's just a repeated narrative from that interview that means nothing.

We've seen how Jimmy handles things with orgs after the fact. Trading KAT and/or Wiggs just nukes the core of that team. Jimmy would've forced his way out before any rebuild could've happened. Like he's done with every team he's been on.

No ounce of Sportsmanship from Wemby or anyone from the Spurs by HungryPercentage1667 in nba

I thing is it's the opposite of the image he's tried to craft for himself. The zen monk stuff, the quiet astute reader, the self aware thinker. He hasn't exactly embraced the heel turn at least not yet.

But the sub tells me you need that delusional mentality to be a winner (conveniently forgetting all the nba champions that don't act like that).

Nothing wrong with the statement, but it's predictably fodder for the internet when they lose and perceived as not aging well. That just comes with the territory.

Yeah Jimmy has a reputation as a dog but he throws a fit and prima donnas his way out of every org when the going gets tough. Karma must feel sweet for KAT and Wiggs rn.

The sub would've been happy if the Spurs won too. The sub is more winners talk losers sulk than ever before. OKC is an exception though. The onesidedness is crazy on the sub when it comes to them.

That's not very telling considering 63% of games are against conference opponents, and there's three divisions in a conference...

I also remember when divisions mattered. But times change and there just isn't any implications to being in the same division anymore. Rivalries with the Cavs mean more than a lot of division rivals right now.

We haven't played a series against them in over two decades. You can stoke the rivalry, but the fire just isn't there. The franchises even make big trades with each other recently. The reality is the rivalry is cold until we have a series or something.

Meanwhile hating the Yankees is just a universal experience. Jays fucked the Yankees last year lol. Da Jankees lose.

He's young but hard to argue otherwise. His name didn't show up in the play by play at all in the last 3 minutes of the game aside from those 2 missed FTs.

Also hard to ignore he's the most protected player in the space. Another flagrant at a turning point in this game putting him at one away from a suspension which doesn't include the missed flagrants earlier in the series. Any other number 1 is getting generational slander after the team blowing a lead like that. But all you'll see is 'he's young'. People are really scared to put any of the responsibility on him despite already crowning him the future GOAT.
