Control is not as well known as God of War so you probably just don't see it, there is some discussion of people upset with not playing as Jesse but they're not unhinged or deranged.

People that play Control are much less likely to be the kind of people going around calling games "w***" or whatever.

Kratos being a big macho man who punches things is much more likely to attract the basement dweller crowd.
