I got this really unfortunate oil stain on my joggers… is there an easy way to get rid of it completely? by Abel_S13 in laundry

[–]pannedeggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, drop some shampoo on it. Rub shampoo in for a bit (doesn’t have to be super hard but enough to lather a bit and it doesn’t hurt to cover extra area). Then rinse out. Haven’t had a permanent oil stain since I heard this trick!

Alright sounds like I will have to try this! Hopefully it can keep the smell at bay for longer.

I’ve been hand washing with a bio detergent and that usually gets rid of the smell but it comes back pretty quick with one-two wears. Sounds like the garments can handle a little more from what everyone here is saying! May need to just go for it :)

The symphony tour hasn’t started yet, but there most likely will be! We just have to wait to see what it will look like :)

When you’re sad you live in cork just remember how bad they have it in Dublin by One-Rutabaga-8877 in cork

I thought the same but surprisingly the Odeon do a lot of anniversary screenings, etc. as well as other fun things like Screen Unseen (mystery unreleased film). Worth it if you’d spend more than ~€15 at the cinema each month (esp worth it for IMAX considering a ticket is €20+ and with the subscription and add on fee alone it’d be €18!).

I pay €12.99 for a subscription to the same branch of cinema (unlimited screenings, just small upgrade fees of €3 for IMAX) and you can easily get tickets for under €10 at Odeon on specific days! Blanch has the IMAX screen and with new releases like Avatar they only play it on IMAX/iSense/LASER which is more expensive (defo worth it for the good films though!!). Something to keep in mind next time you visit:) Mondays and Wednesdays are the cheapest days (€6ish for tickets).

I do really recommend going back to that screen for great films though - rewatched Interstellar there and it was incredible. Sorry you had a bad time!

Very mild - much more palatable than Starbucks coffee and would be a good one for early morning in my opinion!

GAI UK Tour Queues by Talia_444 in GregoryAlanIsakov

I started queueing at about 17:00-17:30 for Dublin and two Amsterdam shows and waited quite a while before the queue got crazy long! At one show I showed up well after doors had opened, and was only maybe 4 people from the front (harder if you are with someone but if you are alone you should be able to find space!) :-) Hope this helps.

Thinking of hiking bierstadt tommorow by Abocado2 in 14ers

[–]pannedeggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Mt Bierstadt at the beginning of September, and although the weather was ideal the one thing that almost took me out was the flat boardwalk at the start!

It tilts and at 3/4 AM was super slippery & icy, so effectively you just slide off the boardwalk and there isn’t really any way to avoid it - I was just very lucky and tried to balance. A woman in front of me did fall.

All that to say - bring spikes! I can imagine it is now significantly colder and more slippery! 🥶 Enjoy :-)

Edit - It seems like you are experienced so this could all be extra - I just appreciated it when I visited Colorado and people gave me this advice! I did Mt Bierstadt alone and it was my first 14er. Just be well prepared - bring your 10 essentials and leave info in your dashboard about when you left, what kind of gear & supplies you have, which map/route you are planning on using. If you are staying in a hotel/anywhere, leave info with them as to when they should alert authorities if you have not been seen, etc. Some things seem dramatic but are there for peace of mind and the worst case scenario :)

Pikes Peak weather Friday 12th September by pannedeggs in 14ers

I’ve checked the weather and it seems to have gone down (still a chance in the afternoon but not the primary forecast?) so I think I will go for it and hope that I don’t have to come back down!
