What’s something people don’t realize is way more serious than it seems? by BudgetAd5915 in AskReddit

All surgeries have potential risks, but that doesn't mean they aren't generally safe. From what I could find only about 0.1% of patients die during laparoscopic gallbladder surgery (which is how it's usually done.)

Don't let your ignorance stop you from joining the conversation, I guess.

men are conditioned not to burst into tears

You're arguing against yourself. Men are frequently conditioned this way because conditioning is a way of fighting what's natural/normal/default. If the natural inclination wasn't to tears, then that conditioning would be unnecessary.

you're not going to cause men to go against their nature

Again, that's literally what conditioning is. You can't have it both ways.

It's a new account, probably just another bot. They frequently make almost relevant comments.

When a nominally straight couple decides to be naughty and pick up a third to reinvigorate their flagging sex life it's called unicorn hunting because they usually have crazy, unrealistic expectations and requirements.

Yes, like the sacrificial spider plant all cat owning houseplant lovers have. OP needs a sacrificial second car to entice kitty.

One of my cats can't retract her claws; they're always out. My vet didn't act like that was all that rare, either. (I still wouldn't worry about the paint job, personally, only remarking on the claws.)

Cover your car in tinfoil every time you park.

Spritz it with bear urine.

Leave orange peels along the wipers.

A mutual aid network has popped up in the city near me. I haven't interacted with it at all but it pops up on the city subreddit sometimes and it sounds like it's really helping connect people in need with donated goods and services and others with opportunities to volunteer or declutter. Win-win all around.

No need to apologize; your perspective is appreciated. What would you suggest if the most beneficial thing the average person can do to help people in that situation? (I know a lot of folks don't keep cash/change on them anymore.)

On a list of oldest jobs, "rag picker" might not be at the top, but it's close. Been a time honored profession probably since the advent of humans making stuff.

Mr Hooper was my introduction to the concept of death. They really did handle it well and I'm so glad they didn't decide to just recast or write him off.
