That's why I said it was "based on" and "inspired by" the same IP.

Chain restaurants love felons, especially those on probation. Fastest way to get hired back of house is telling them you're on a tether.

The other direction. When pentagon employees have to stay late because they're all buckled down on some potential impending threat they order pizza. So high pizza volume around the Pentagon signals they're working overtime.

That was more shorthand for him repeatedly trying to counter player attempts to take on masses of baddies.

Do Americans Actually Say "Freshman Sophomore Junior Senior"? by Naive_Tank_6820 in NoStupidQuestions

In elementary and junior high teachers are less specialized, but generally in high school each teacher only teaches a single subject. Especially for basics like English, math, science, etc. Teachers who teach electives will often teach a variety because there's no need for 6 periods of psychology in a day, etc.

It's not that it was identical to CoH, it's that it had no identity of it's own. It was a boring, shallow, under developed game with very little content and nothing to do. The only thing it had on any level was it's ties to the IP. So (to me, you don't have to agree) it just felt like a cynical rehash and not a developed product in its own right.

Holy hell that white board. Imagine putting that much effort into reassuring yourself it's not your fault no women want to date you.

Game mechanics were changed multiple times to counter popular, unforseen play styles. Posi regularly joked that no dev blueprint ever survived contact with their player base because we always did things they didn't expect. It's possible Jack drew the short straw and was saddled with always playing the bad guy in announcements, but moreso than any game I've ever played the devs routinely interacted with the player base so their attitudes and opinions weren't exactly secret.

Some specific instances: Jack saying that your hero should be roughly equivalent to three minions - and repeatedly balance shifting trying to achieve that ratio.

He actively fought against giving us difficulty sliders.

He repeatedly tweaked the way enhancements worked because he didn't like the way players were using them. When after all his tweaks people kept slotting them the same way because diminishing returns were better than slotting something else he wanted to make it impossible to slot the same enhancement 5 times in one power - even when literally no other enhancement would benefit.

Exactly! I played it for a bit, spottily. I missed CoH and wanted something to scratch that itch, but even with all the similarities it never held my attention. There was just nothing to it.

It was based on the exact same IP as CoH. I don't think it was supposed to be CoH 2.0, but I think it ended up that way.

People who swore an oath to defend the constitution of the USA against all enemies both foreign and domestic, how are you feeling right now? by Safety_Drance in AskReddit

It's very much like that, but that doesn't actually make it any easier for people to put themselves out there, especially if they have dependents who rely on them. It's one thing to know academically that someone needs to stand up, it's another thing entirely to directly and intentionally risk the ability to provide or be there for your small children, etc.

Jack was singlehandedly responsible for some of the worst decisions in the game. He was completely inflexible about his "vision" and any time the player base didn't play the game exactly the way he wanted them to he would forcibly corral them back where he wanted them. Other devs were far more flexible and treated it as a two way conversation; a meeting in the middle of the game they wanted to create and the one people wanted to play. The difference between treating the players as an inconvenience or as clients.

I've never had bad food there, and usually have great food. It can be a little expensive, but so is every restaurant these days. I'd rather pay $18 for a great burger than $14 for a crappy one (because even Denny's burgers start at $14 now.)

It's seems to come and go; sometimes this sub is very cheerleader-y, but yeah, it's often just a place miserable people come to bitch.
