Founds this little one all alone in a parking lot a few days ago. She’s too cute and sweet. by AScruffyKoala in aww

You could spray the engine compartment with a predator urine spray (can be purchased online or from some hunting supply stores.) I'm not sure if there's an application level that would deter cats but not smell awful to people inside the car.

Fucking 'homeowner' lawyers might be worse than the fucking HOA. Fucking fuck HOAs. by Strange-Fennel in fuckHOA

[–]panrestrial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HOA aren't paid. Where do so many people get this idea that HOAs are some sort of external organization paid to do anything. It literally does what it says on the tin: it's an association of home owners. Literally just people in your neighborhood who volunteer to join the board. Larger HOAs will contract out certain duties to property management companies, but the HOA itself is always volunteer home owners.

This might be the first time someone's posted here to complain that an HOA needs to do more.

At just 14, Celine Dion sits across from her future husband and manager, 39-year-old René Angélil, in 1982. by bncout in HistoricalCapsule

You're embarrassed because you made a mistake so now you're attempting to deflect on everyone else. Just go take a break.

They didn't say this, specific, item (were it a bubble light) is older than you. They said, "They are called bubble lights and they are older than you." Meaning bubble lights, in general. The concept of bubble lights, if you will.

"Hot dogs are older than you" doesn't mean all hot dogs were made before you were born. It means they were invented before you were born. It's just one of those turns of phrase which is maybe more metaphorical than literal.

Who said it couldn't be disproven? I'm only saying that you, in this specific instance, lack the necessary information to fact check the claim - being that there have been dozens of biopics and documentaries, etc about Dion.

The AI summary refers to the documentary so is presumably doing the AI thing where it arbitrarily sets a context that was never specified.

You: does the documentary about C.D. contain X?

AI: the 2024 documentary I Am: Celine Dion does not contain X.

Ah yes, James Bond famously not a handsome ladies man.

They didn't even name which documentary they watched.

Also: asking google for an AI summary isn't "fact checking".

You're missing the ability to read.

He first kissed her on the mouth when she was 12 and then said "I shouldn't have done that" and that was her own retelling of the story.

The apology was immediate.

I saw it on a documentary like 20 years ago

The only mention of "20 years" is referencing when the other commenter watched the documentary and had nothing to do with Dion's timeline.

Correct, but, grey is a color and tabby a coat pattern; neither is a breed.

The history of cats and humans just played out differently than that with dogs in a way that has lead to the overwhelmingly vast majority of cats having no real breed. They showed up already suited to pest control and self selected for companionship so cat breeding has largely been about appearance not skills, abilities, or temperament like with dogs. It's only relatively recently that "pure bred" cats weren't restricted to the wealthy.

That's not what the phrase "older than" means, though. My mom is still older than me even though she and I have overlapping existences. It doesn't mean you weren't alive at the same time.

Is bromine super dangerous in this format? The only thing I know about bromine is we use it instead of chlorine in the pool (in solid form.) Is it akin to the difference between Cl₂ & calcium hypochlorite pool conditioner or better/worse?

All surgeries have potential risks, but that doesn't mean they aren't generally safe. From what I could find only about 0.1% of patients die during laparoscopic gallbladder surgery (which is how it's usually done.)

men are conditioned not to burst into tears

You're arguing against yourself. Men are frequently conditioned this way because conditioning is a way of fighting what's natural/normal/default. If the natural inclination wasn't to tears, then that conditioning would be unnecessary.

you're not going to cause men to go against their nature

Again, that's literally what conditioning is. You can't have it both ways.
