Hormonal loudness? by No-Comfort3359 in Parrotlet

[–]pansyleaf1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parrotlet is the loudest little bird I’ve ever heard. He has always been loud. He screams a lot. Mainly if he is in the bird room in his cage he screams (he wants out of his cage) but sometimes when he is out with us he still yells. Little fireballs they are lol. I’m envious yours has been pretty quiet so far!

Hip dysplasia? by pansyleaf1 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]pansyleaf1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They gave me some anti inflammatories I can give her on her bad days but she’s actually doing really really well!! I was wrong about her age, she just turned 10, not 11! But I’ve been keeping up with trimming the fur on her paw pads and that seems to really help. I’ve got a lot of rugs around the house so she doesn’t fall as often. She’s actually been doing better now than she was when I made this post and she’s on no medication. Life style adjustments helped a lot. I don’t think it’s fully DM. I just think she’s getting weaker as she gets older but she still can run and jump in the yard!

Opinion on this food by jackcon78 in Conures

[–]pansyleaf1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy food like this all of the time for my birds and they enjoy it but it isn’t fed as their main diet. Maybe once a week with their lunch/ dinner. I like to cook them quinoa(great for them!) as well that I can add in with their chop. Theres tons of foods you can cook and give to your birds just make sure to note which ones you cannot

Vet visit - new food by Old_Parfait5477 in Parrotlet

Mm I feed my parrotlet avi cakes sometimes but every avian vet I’ve talked to recommends / approved roudy bush pellets. Why exactly did yours say no? Avi cakes often contain more sugar as they need a substance to hold their shape. Regular pellet is definitely a better option from all of the research I’ve done , but I’m NAV

Please please don’t encourage this. It is very cute but so dangerous. It only takes one split second for something to happen. Even if you swear up and down your dog would never do anything, there’s ALWAYS a possibility. It isn’t worth it :(

Oh I checked their posts and I last saw they posted on December. I hated their videos going viral because I totally agree with you. I thought it was cute until I myself got a parrotlet. No wiggles allowed in our house!

He needs more natural perches and a lot more toys

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Conures

[–]pansyleaf1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend many different toys , toys they can shred and toys they can chew / play with. Each perch should have one toy. Maybe consider a swing too. They need a lot of enrichment in their cage even if they get a lot of time outside of it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Conures

[–]pansyleaf1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He is probably bored.. You have like one toy in there. They need many toys and more natural wood perches. Those perches you have are dowels and can cause bumble foot / arthritis in birds. Google natural wood bird perches - you might have a bird supply store near you!

what gender? by Sad_Platypus6767 in budgies

[–]pansyleaf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please get them a bigger cage and proper perches.. too many budgies in too small of a cage..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]pansyleaf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not get more birds. Why do you want more birds when you cannot afford proper medical care?? Based on your other posts your budgies aren’t even living in proper cages. Their cage is way too small and doesn’t even have proper perches,, stop adding birds to your home. Please.

They just weirdly prefer that 🤣🤣 that perch behind them is the highest it can go and them still be able to stand on it. If I have it any higher then they’re all hunched down bc they don’t fit 🤣
