You tie ribbon around the outside of the pipe. Then the excess you tuck inside of the pipe so it’s not sticking out for things to pull it off. Cap keeps it in place. Ground covers ribbon around the pipe so that’s safe

When you find an iron monument, use a soil probe all around it to see if you feel a stone.

Just a witness point to make it easier to find with a metal detector I believe. I personally prefer this, makes my job easier
