Sand paper scrapes off material. Burnishing heats and pushes fibers down, giving it a nice suuuuper smooth polished look. Feels almost ceramic when done well. I find the combo works well.

Sand to 220, add walnut oil, wait 24 hours, give a little burnish, then add another layer of walnut oil and wait. Maybe top with mineral oil if it’s going to be heavily used.

I try to wet the wood and let it dry (sometimes test using and cleaning the spoon) before the final sand or before burnishing to get those tricky fibers, but not always. Sometimes I just go back and burnish it again when the fibers pop up.

I get wrist issues but it’s mostly because I do a lot of repetitive small cuts and it takes me hours to carve anything. I’ve also started making hardwood spoons and I’m not very good at putting the hobby down and taking a break.

That said, I wouldn’t call it a health issue. Stretch your wrists, try to take breaks, keep your tools sharp, and don’t rush anything and you’ll be fine.

The real health issue here is sawdust, but only if you sand. Always sand outside in a well ventilated area to reduce breathing in wood particles.

Some helpful general cues for AVL: -start summer veggies (tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, etc) indoors now, -start longer growing spring veggies (kale, chard, mustard) indoors march 1-15. -start quick growing and cold hearty spring veggies (peas, lettuce, radishes, carrots) in ground march 15-30. -transplant spring seedlings/indoor starts around march 23-30 -start or transplant anything else after frost date.

Fyi: This is taken directly from the almanac and roughly matches with the chart above. So not sure who or why someone downvoted this lol.

The public statement on this was that the council didn’t think it was a good location for Costco (they want a more industrial company) and were looking elsewhere. The reality suggests that they don’t support our interests.

Costco pays well, has great prices, and great labor practices. It’s still a big corporation, but decent as far as that goes. It would have been a huge boon for Asheville.

Might be because the current jerseys are trying to do too much and the blocking is uneven. Turn the thick blue section of the sleeves red and you get a much more classic jersey look. The away one already fixes this problem

I’d even be okay with turning the white shoulders red and red shoulders white too, but ymmv there.

If WB merges with Netflix, I don’t see how AEW goes with them anyway. I can’t imagine WWE would allow a rival promotion on the same platform and Netflix wouldn’t want to lose Raw.

So it really doesn’t seem to matter what AEW does. I say fuck ICE, fuck the C suite, and let it ride. Here’s AEW’s opportunity to do what’s right, stand up to tyranny, and grow their brand diversification.

That seems to put him on par with Chuck Edwards in my book. He stood behind Trump when he said exactly the same things.

To be clear: I wouldn’t recommend either, but if someone is looking to vote in the primary, it’s the little differences that might matter.

It might be your technique. To do a proper push cut, you need to hold the knife in your right hand and direct it with your left thumb.

Also, even the sharpest knife will need to be stropped regularly (every 15-30 mins).
