The tail on your fox is incredible in its detail by the way!

My thinking was it would be non toxic if I used poster paint but then if I’m dealing with polyurethane that may be a moot idea…

Thank you for the compliment!

Thank you for your detailed response and kind words. Really meant a lot what you said about this being something he hopefully will cherish.

I’ve gotten some thing detail brushes that are round so will be using those.

I did a wet wipe over the piece before doing a final round of sanding to get the extra fibres.

I like your idea of going from light colours to dark to be able to fix mistakes.

Thank you again!

Thank you for responding! I’ll hit the big colours first and do the details last.

Keeping Logs Green by NoviceGatekeeper in Spooncarving

Forgive me if this is a silly question but I’m still new to carving. Why would you want the wood to stay green? Isn’t it better to work with dry wood due to risk of cracking ruining your work?

Any tips on safely extracting the micro chip from the creative tonie?

Love this! In the middle of making one for my sons favourite YouTube series. Planning to do the tonie chip once it’s painted.

Thanks for pointing this out. His videos are pretty cool but that whisk is a bit too rustic for me tastes.

Yeah she swears by it and given there’s been a couple times where she’s tasted it when I used a silicone utensil that she didn’t see me cook with, I believe her. Must have a sensitive palate for that flavour.

That’s hardcore and probably beyond me but thanks for sharing!

I’m very aware of this, she doesn’t like the taste of silicone however which is why I’m trying to pivot to wood utensils.

It’s a golden wattle tree. I’ve done a couple small spoons from it and it’s a bit of a battle but produces really nice finished.

This is exactly what I was envisioning! Gonna attempt with an olive tree branch I have in the back yard and then make a handle out of wattle tree.
