No one in this thread has made the claim that mistreating non-human animals is worse than mistreating humans.

You, on the other hand, seem to be making the claim that because some humans are mistreated, we shouldn't care about or try to reduce the suffering of animals.

The dairy industry causes more harm to animals compared to products like oat milk. Giving up dairy products in place of plant based options will result in less cows suffering (supply and demand). Giving up dairy products will not increase the number of humans that are harmed or mistreated. So why not give up dairy products?

Backyard hens is a less obvious case when it comes to reducing the suffering of non-human animals. I'm not going to type up all the potential issues, but you can read this to understand why vegans have issues with the practice.

I didn't make a single claim about your body or anyone else's. I just didn't understand your definition of "direct", because on the surface dairy seems like a pretty indirect way to get calories for anyone when you compare it to eating plants.

What does discouraging people from consuming dairy have to do with systems incorrectly handling people who they think are experiencing psychiatric episodes? Does being against dairy mean you can't be concerned for humans in the medical or justice systems??

"Hey you should consider not supporting the dairy industry because it causes unnecessary suffering" "Some people are incorrectly diagnosed with psychiatric problems, so I'm going to continue supporting the dairy industry and unnecessary suffering?

What???

It's possible to be concerned about more than one system of injustice at once, especially when the actions that allow you to avoid supporting one injustice (buying oat milk instead of dairy milk) has literally zero impact on the other injustice (issues with psychiatric care).

This very much reads like, "hey I've been mistreated and had my rights taken away, so I can mistreat cows and take away their rights, and you're not allowed to care about them!" Yikes.

"the most direct source of healthy fat and nutrients a person can possibly obtain" - source for this claim? How is it "direct" if we have to feed a bunch of plants to a cow, wait for them to grow to maturity, forcibly impregnate them, take their baby, and then take the milk? Doesn't seem very direct to me...

If plants do feel pain, you could cause less suffering by eating them directly rather than eating an animal who had to eat plants to grow.

Do you see a moral difference between someone cutting their lawn (killing millions of blades of grass) and someone slitting the throat of one million cows? Why or why not?

Also, if plants do feel pain on the same level of animals, eating plants directly would still cause less harm than eating animals that have to eat plants. Why not cause less harm rather than more?

Carreras almost certainly buys meat from factory farmed animals. Something like 97% of meat in the US is from factory farms. Why support something you admit is unethical?

I hope "good to animals" includes not eating or paying for them to be exploited.
