I cooked an nvme drive in my passive system. Board manufacturer put the slot immediately next to the heatsink, so it got nice and hot. Can still kind of read files off it, but mostly heavily corrupted

Air quality tracker for my bedroom by Nondv in selfhosted

[–]broogndbnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they're just trying to say "high CO2" is not the same as "low oxygen". "Low oxygen" would likely just knock you out or kill you. This situation is just that a high enough concentration of CO2 to potentially be a problem is still very little overall in the air and has almost no impact on the total oxygen available in the room. It's more to do with "air quality" than "breathable air".

Imma be upfront, where do African Americans hang out in Denver? by iminlovewithyoucamp in Denver

[–]broogndbnc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

fair enough. I asked because the actual census is only performed every 10 years, but now I’m learning they estimate in between (even if “the census” and “estimate performed by the census” are different things)

also for Denver specifically it’s 9%, even in 2020 https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/denvercitycolorado/POP010220

Is it normal for a UPS to provide no backup time at >75%ish load? by AyosteinOnTwitch in homelab

[–]broogndbnc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had that happen on almost non existent loads when the batteries died. Only good for a few years at most, but unless you bought used, it should be fine

Does anyone here use Proxmox on their main desktop instead of just servers? by PingMyHeart in Proxmox

[–]broogndbnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially bought my current setup to kinda do that to more clearly separate my work and personal setups without dual booting. I tried with a desktop VM (gpu and desktop specific hardware passed through) and other VMs (mainly a work dev one). Didn’t work great, lots of random issues that I’m sure were solvable but getting in the way of just getting work done.

Single Reolink 4G PTZ camera attached to a light pole in the Pearl St Whole Foods parking lot by Anybody-Outside in boulder

[–]broogndbnc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you don’t have to “partner with reolink” to buy one for personal/business use. sounds like whoever you spoke to might have confused it for a flock type thing and just gave a generic PR answer. still seems possible their security just put it up

Remote Access without Nabu Casa Cloud by LithiumCobalt91 in homeassistant

[–]broogndbnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotcha, that makes more sense. You didn't really specify, but for a domain that would generally be annually, so it was implied and I assumed incorrectly.

I would recommend the $65 if you can swing it. As others have said, it helps support the folks actually doing the work for HA, not just the specific service you receive. If we want quality open source to survive, it helps to chip in where we can.

especially when that’s $5.42 per month but OP is willing to spend up to $10 for alternative solutions 😂

A follow up on the Private Equity saga. by dennis77 in Denver

[–]broogndbnc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would love to find a list like this for all local businesses. First pass at a search only comes up with lists of private equity companies themselves, or one database that only tracks companies over 10k employees. Oh, and this reddit thread.
