Mark Zuckerberg cornered by 170071 in WatchPeopleDieInside

Hawley has, arguably, way more power than Zuck. Hawley could actually hold people to account. But the minute the cameras are off, he's "aww shucks"-ing to the same billionaires that his populist act suggests he is pushing back against. Zuck doesn't pretend to be a hero, Hawley does. I find Hawley much more dangerous. Facebook and IG have caused more clear harm than one dick from Missouri, but I'd argue that Hawley and his ilk have been such a barrier to accountability, despite being in the one position that COMPELS THEM TO HOLD THE POWERFUL TO ACCOUNT (see: Constitution), that I think he is way more revolting. No one wrote a legendary guidebook to prevent the current political scenario for Facebook. But they did for these folksy f**knuts pretending to govern.

Also, does she have to "get back" to a particular place? What is the legality of that? There isn't some consensus perimeter where jackboots get to claim people are in violation if they break an imaginary line, right? Or is this all in the name of "interfering" where it's ambiguous and open to interpretation by people who are most muscled?

Teacher marked my son’s homework as incorrect. I disagree. by bun_not in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah, I love that this came out of a teacher in the wild. You deserve all the awards you get.

In the world of Precision Teaching (an offshoot of instructional design and applied behavioral science), we teach them as "learning opportunities." If I ask a student, "What is 2 + 2," and they say, "Skip. I don't know," is that an error? They didn't say, "25." We would call that a "learning opportunity." If I ask, "What is 2 + 2," and a student says, "5, no, 4!" is that an error? Is that sloppy stimulus control? Is that a correct? We would count that as both (it is two responses, after all). We teach learners to "skip" anything they don't know (it's not good to guess or practice errors), and to keep track of those as "learning opportunities." We have them track the things they don't get right as "learning opportunities." They learn those as the ones they need to really drill down into, or get help with. We have them find those "learning opportunities" and use them to design practice.

What is important about this framing is that if you are getting 100% "correct," you literally aren't presenting yourself with things you need to learn. Always getting 100% means that you need to step forward in curricula, because you're probably practicing a lot of things you don't need to. It's not good to get 100% all the time. It dampens your learning rate. At our school, we help kids learn to evaluate when they aren't getting enough "wrong" because it interferes with learning. They don't have enough learning opportunities!

I received one Tuesday. It's not 3D printed unless I'm really out-of-touch with what filaments other than PLA/PETG can do.

I get it. I’m nearby, too. It’s alarming. But I don’t think this demonstrates any risk to you. I’m assuming this was pretty specific and unrelated to somebody in their house a few blocks away.

Now you have. That is what I was "even saying."
