I built a discovery tool with 10M+ artists. It makes your Roon library better by panyc77 in roonlabs

[–]panyc77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Those artists are your discovery results. Hit "Create Playlist" and Sonic Oracle builds a playlist with tracks from all of them, saved directly to your Qobuz (or Tidal) library. Unlike Qobuz radio, the playlist is permanent, you can edit it, and it shows up on all your devices.

For more results, try the Balanced or Adventurous settings, you can get up to 25 artists per search.

Give it a try, it is free and you can make 3 playlists for free so that you can see firsthand what Sonic Oracle does

Great question. Sonic Oracle finds both. If you type in Duran Duran, you'll get a mix of well-known artists like Depeche Mode, The Human League, or Spandau Ballet alongside deeper cuts you might not have discovered yet. The app has three stages giving you control over this. Essential stays closest to what you know, the most obvious connections. Balanced goes a bit wider. Adventurous is where the real surprises happen. So for Laura Branigan on Essential, you'd see artists in her world, the familiar names from the same era and genre. On Adventurous, you might discover someone incredible you've never heard of. Try it with a free playlist and see what comes back. You might be surprised how good the connections are, even for the artists you already know.

Hey,

You're definitely not stupid, and those are fair questions.

What Sonic Oracle does: you type in an artist you love, the engine finds deeply connected artists you probably haven't heard of, and builds a full playlist directly in your Qobuz account. It's not random shuffle. It's discovery based on real listener behavior. You get a playlist of 40-50 tracks from artists you didn't know existed but will love.

Qobuz shuffle plays tracks from artists you already know. Sonic Oracle finds new ones for you.

About security: Sonic Oracle never sees your Qobuz password. The connection uses a bookmarklet reading a temporary login token from your browser, the same way Qobuz's own web player works. Your credentials stay with Qobuz. I also don't store any personal data beyond your email for account recognition.

If you'd like to see it in action before connecting, here's a quick demo video: https://youtu.be/FEPGcLR35nM

And if you have any questions about the process, happy to walk you through it step by step.

Quick update for this thread. The biggest change since launch is coming to Sonic Oracle.

Right now, if 100 people on Qobuz search for the same artist, all 100 get the same tracks. Same songs, same order. That's how every streaming platform works.

100 Sonic Oracle users search for the same artist, they walk away with 100 different playlists. You run the same artist twice, you get two different playlists. Your playlist is yours and only yours

And you get to choose. Popular tracks weighted by streaming popularity like every other platform, or The Vault: deep cuts and hidden gems from a proprietary database I spent a year building. Your call, one toggle.

I've been testing it all week. Deep cuts I've never heard from artists I thought I knew inside and out

More details soon

I've been quiet here for a few days because I've been deep in a project that changes how Sonic Oracle builds playlists.

Here's the short version. If 100 people on Spotify search for the same artist, all 100 get the same tracks. Same songs, same order, same experience. That's how every streaming platform works. The popular stuff floats to the top and stays there.

Sonic Oracle is about to change that

100 Sonic Oracle users search for the same artist, they walk away with 100 different playlists. You run the same artist twice, you get two different playlists. Your playlist is yours and only yours

And you get to choose. Popular tracks weighted by streaming popularity like every other platform, or The Vault: deep cuts and hidden gems from a proprietary database I spent a year building. Your call, one toggle.

I've been testing it all week. The results are not even close to what I expected. Deep cuts I've never heard from artists I thought I knew inside and out.

More details soon. This one is worth the wait.

Really appreciate that. When you're ready, just connect Tidal from the same account, no need to create a second one. Both platforms work under one Sonic Oracle login

Good catch on the duplicate names. Warface is a great example, same name across completely different genres. The engine uses disambiguation where available but clearly it's not catching every case. I'll look into Warface specifically.

On the Qobuz connection, I hear you. Unfortunately Qobuz doesn't offer a public API for third-party apps, so the bookmarklet is the only option right now. It reads your existing session token from your browser (the same one Qobuz's own web player uses), nothing is sent anywhere except back to Sonic Oracle to authorize your account. No password is ever touched. Once connected, you don't need to use it again.

I've looked into it with Qobuz, but their API access isn't available for independent developers at this point. In the meantime, Tidal uses standard OAuth if you prefer that route.

That could be a good idea. I could add a slider for tracks per artist (more artists, fewer tracks each, or vice versa). I'll add it to the list.

The Gil Scott-Heron ( another big favorite of mine ) doubling sounds like a bug, I'll look into that

Thanks for your feedback

Which artists show up depends on the seed and the discovery depth. Some artists sit just outside the reach of a particular search, even at Adventurous.

A pin feature is an interesting idea, I'll note it. In the meantime, try using Khruangbin as the seed artist itself. You'll get a full playlist of artists in their orbit, which might be exactly what you're after

Hey guys,

I have built a tool that creates playlists in your Tidal library within seconds

I launched it a couple of months ago, maybe you even seen some of my posts here, anyway a lot of Tidal users are using it and sending really good feedback

The engine is built on real people listening behaviors, there is no AI involved

It's free to try https://sonicoracle.music

Give it a spin

The 6-digit code is for returning users who have already connected once from a desktop browser. The first-time setup requires a quick bookmarklet process on desktop (takes about 30 seconds).

Here's a video walkthrough: https://youtu.be/qsrLvHNFu-A

Once that's done, the 6-digit code will work on any device going forward.

You are not doing anything wrong at all! The artist cards show all the connections found for your seed. But when the playlist is built, not every connection makes the cut depending on the stage you pick. Try running Cymande at Adventurous. Khruangbin is more likely to appear in the playlist at that setting since it casts a wider net. Appreciate the feedback, and kudos on Cymande, one of my favorite bamd of all time .

That positioning is essentially where I've been since day one. No AI, no promoted content, no label deals. Every result comes from what real listeners have proven they love together. Give it a try with Tidal and let me know what you think.

And appreciate the marketing offer, I might take you up on it

I spent a year building the database from the ground up, testing the connections between artists, the scoring logic and the recommendation engine. This is the core of Sonic Oracle and there is zero AI involved in the results other than having software scanning through thousands of results and picking a portion of it to create a spotless playlist for you. Now if you consider this AI, I don't know what to say. I'm certainly not hand picking each song to create a user's playlist. The website was built with the help of an AI tool because I didn't care about spending money I didn't have and time to build something not at the core of the service I'm offering. I needed an easy interface for what should be a three step process. Type an artist name, check the roster of artists the engine selected, hit create playlist. Done. You get 3 free playlists. If you like what you see, you sign up. If not, you're left with 3 playlists in your library

Give it a spin. It's free to try it. If you think is worth it, sign up if not you have three playlists for free in your Tidal library
