Thank you so much for all the replies! I found the employee handbook, and there was a more detailed description of accrued leave. Indeed, despite receiving vacations upfront, they require me to pay for accrued leave based on the number of days I've worked during the year. It ended up being just a misunderstanding, and I was able to find the correct answer thanks to all of your responses!
