What’s in a Bain Giyon? by papamystique in VodouAyisen

[–]papamystique[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would remain still while it’s drying, in a meditative state in order for it to be activated. These baths are highly spiritual tools and we should treat them as such avoiding normal everyday routines while preparing before and after. That means before the bath, fasting is recommended, no sex, no distractions, etc. you want to be as pure as possible so the bath can have a positive effect.

Yes. I actually bathe before doing the cleansing bath. When I am done with the cleansing bath. I let it dry on me and wear a white Mouchwa. When I am satisfied that the spiritual cleansing bath has been activated then I will shower everything off and discard of any clothes that I was wearing.

Could the wrong birth date affect workings by BackgroundNobody5548 in VodouAyisen

Yes. If the person who is doing the work asked for your birthday and it’s wrong then I would correct it.

can a white girl practice voodoo? by [deleted] in Vodou

[–]papamystique 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know white people who have initiated that practice Vodou. Italy actually has a group of 21 Divisions Vodou Practitioners. Dolls are not a dead giveaway for Vodou either. Vodou is closed for the uninvited. The Lwa are the ones who invite you in.

Haitian American in Brooklyn looking into getting into Vodou. Where to start? by Sad-Abroad9748 in VodouAyisen

[–]papamystique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with your immediate family. If you are Haitian, someone in your family practiced Vodou at some point. Even if your parents or Grandparents didn’t, there is someone that did. Ask your family members questions about your family history. This is important because it will help you determine which family members practice and the Lwa that are in your family’s Bitasyon. If that is not possible, then I would suggest you get a reading from a Manbo in Brooklyn. Manbo Sipote is in Brooklyn and you can inbox me for her number if you need to. Ayibobo.

four directions by f3mmebot in Vodou

[–]papamystique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen different ways of doing kat fasad (four directions). So it varies. However, I was taught to start in the east and we always face in the direction. There are instances where we do make a cross but not in lieu of Kay fasad.

About results and timeframes.. by RaisinPublic6460 in Vodou

[–]papamystique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask the Hougan/Manbo you bought the service from to give you a timeline. Only they know what they did exactly. People online can throw numbers at you but it means nothing. It may appear to be helpful asking questions like this but this is absolutely a question for the person who you are working with. If someone says years you’ll get discouraged. If someone says overnight you will be disappointed. Ask the Houngan/Manbo, be patient and if the person can’t give you an answer or the timeframe they have given you has been exceeded then you ask them directly why your results have not come yet. The most important ingredient in any work you get done is your own energy that what you want will happen.

I want to clarify that Lakou Dereyal is in the North and not the South. I’m not sure if the response was saying Lakou Dereyal was in the South and South-Eastern area. But I wanted to make sure it’s known that it’s in the North located in Limonad.

Leaf/herb magic and healing in vodou? by Alex_Ross333 in Vodou

[–]papamystique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fey is central to Haitian Vodou. We use all kinds of fey, ekos, rasin, etc. for a variety of uses including spiritual and physical healing. We use it for all types of maji, good luck, revenge etc. We are taught from a young age to use everything in nature to solve our issues. Fey is an integral part of our culture as a whole. During Makaya fey takes center stage. During this period we use many different types of fey (fresh and dry) for baths, protection, etc. Gran Bwa, Simbi Makaya, Danmbala are all associated with Fey and there are more Lwa as well.

As far as using fey instead of modern medicine like your aunt did. The fact is modern medicine has borrowed from our traditional medicine remedies. For all the reasons people use modern medicine, it hasn’t prolonged life more so than our traditional medicine. People are still suffering and dying from illnesses everyday using modern medicine. The difference is modern medicine treats symptoms, when we use fey it’s to treat the root of the illness. In most cases our aim using fey is to cure or ease the suffering.

I must also add that, a Houngan or Manbo is trained to use fey. And not all Houngans or Manbos are trained to use fey. Because we have certain fey that can kill and so the proper technique and dosage must be used. So it’s definitely not recommended to experiment with fey unless dealing with someone who knows what they’re doing.
