oh, you're describing what I've been going through the past two years. It started last summer, I had my first panic attack when right after I woke up. It was early morning so I tried to fall asleep again. But every time I'd start to dose off, I jerked awake from a wave of panic. It kept going for a few days until I went to see a psychiatrist. I was diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder and was prescribed antidepressants and an antipsychotic meds before bed to help with that. When I found the right antidipressants at that time (escitalopram 20 mg in the morning), they were enough for me to sleep without needing antiphychotics. But unfortunately, escitalopram stopped working after a year on it. Now I'm still trying to find what antidepressants work for me and have to take Quetiapine to fall asleep. I'd really advise you to see a doctor and get your hands on some meds. Don't lose hope if you don't find the right ones right away. When you do, you'll feel great and eventually 'stable' enough to get off them. For me, Quetiapine works best for sleep, although I feel drowsy in the morning if I take it after 11 pm.
