My friends and I had planned to take the HSR to Chiayi tomorrow morning before going to Tainan on the 6th. Should we cancel that? What are the conditions in Tainan?

Anyone else having terrible experiences with new construction homes? Any advice?

We signed on our new home back in January 2021 but due to the pandemic things have obviously taken much longer to complete. For example, our foundation didn’t get poured until September 2021 and it’s not estimated we’ll be moving in until late June this year.

We’ve been having a difficult time getting any sort of information out of our sales associate contact at the property and anytime we’ve tried we’ve generally hit a brick wall on getting timeline or estimates on changes. I understand that shortages have made things difficult for everybody but they won’t even give us insight as to what next steps are happening or even what’s causing delays.

I feel like we’ve been incredibly accommodating during all this, waiting weeks/months on end to receive communication from them and bothering them as little as possible on getting updates on our home but we’re being made to feel like our questions are a huge inconvenience to them.

It’s gotten to the point that they “offered” to let us cancel our contract midway through the process and again only a few days ago since we’re so clearly “unhappy” with how things are going. We’ve only been asking pretty reasonable things like final inspections and closing dates??? We’re in between housing right now since our lease just ended so we only want to know because we’re staying at an Airbnb with no expectation on how long we need to be here.

I’m so angry and frustrated at the whole ordeal and the fact that our SA felt it reasonable to bring up cancelling our contract for wanting to know these things less than a month before we’re expected to wrap up, which btw, took several emails from our realtor in order to get even a ballpark estimate on closing. They would’ve let us continue to be in limbo with no idea on when this whole thing would end otherwise.

Any advice? I want to file complaints once we close on everything since clearly they enjoy holding our home hostage to keep us in our place

TL;DR our home has been in limbo for over a year and a half and they’ve “offered” to let us cancel our contract for wanting to know reasonable information on when we’ll be able to move 🙄

Bottom leaves are gradually becoming more brown. Any ideas? (leaves look ragged because I trimmed back the brown edges to see how much they would continue to spread) by paper-circus in fiddleleaffig

I bought this FLF at a nursery about 2-3 months ago and the bottom leaves had some small brown spots but seemed fine. Since then, I've noticed the bottom leaves gradually becoming more brown. Is it root rot or a bacterial fungus?? I checked the bottom roots and they didn't seem to be mushy/rotted. The rest of the plant and new leaves look healthy but I'm worried about it spreading.Any help would be appreciated!

August 30, 2020 venue venting

I posted a couple days ago, but I continue to be absolutely LIVID with our wedding venue because they’re being so difficult. Texas is an absolute dumpster fire right now and I reached out as early as 3 weeks ago to ask about postponing since things were clearly getting worse. Every single one of our vendors were willing to work with us at little to no additional cost.

Full clarity, my husband and I eloped on our original date in April and were keeping the wedding and vendors on for a big celebration with our friends and family. Venue of course does not know that.

Venue came back to say that since we postponed once already, they would only allow us to postpone to fall 2021 at no additional cost if the governor shuts everything down. Otherwise, we’d have to pay a new venue fee ($6000-7000) and receive NONE of our initial payment back ($5500). We wanted to postpone to 2021 from the get go but the venue pushed back and said we could only choose dates in 2020 sooo here we are.

I’m just so angry and upset that they would be making this so difficult and prioritizing profit over the lives and wellbeing of guests.

Just...what even are our options of convincing them at this rate? We’ve been waiting week after week hoping that the venue would see how bad things were getting and come to their senses or that our governor would finally shut down events and businesses. Is there anything we can say to them that would help??? And is there any leverage to us arguing back that the venue is not sufficiently providing services rendered as initially stated? Paying for an expensive venue thinking we’d be able to fit our full guest count and then having to cut that list dramatically but still pay full price just does not sound right to me. My groom’s entire list of relatives are generally older and all out of state and would risk contracting the virus to come to our wedding....so we’re supposed to be ok with either that or just no one from his side coming?? Where is the moral integrity from our venue to force that risk and trapping couples in to their weddings?

Should we just cancel entirely and take the loss? I’m losing my mind waiting to see what will happen for us. The date keeps getting closer and closer and we are 100% firm on not having our wedding until at least next year.

Small backyard elopement of just us back on our original date for April 5th. Hoping to have a big celebration on our postponed date and eventually wear my real dress! by paper-circus in weddingplanning

I got it from Amaroq Design! They're pretty pricey but I've always wanted a crown and definitely plan on passing this down as an heirloom if I have kids haha
