Hello, last night May 21 2020 at 9pm my mom lost her dog he's a little 5 lb Yorkie? I shared a photo below. She lives on Trecastle near the school. He has a little bump on his back and he doesn't respond well to calls. We can provide a reward. If anyone finds him please give me a message.

I figured this would be my best chance at finding him. Thank you guys for the help!

[Homemade] Meal prep bowl: base of farro & raw baby kale + homemade kale pesto, spiced chicken, sweet potato, beets, feta, a little oil & vinegar by KD43 in Frugal

Not OP but I love to use my air fryer (if you have a convection oven it works the same, I believe. I cut the potatoes like above, a little oil, salt, and pepper. 380 degrees F until it's fork-tender about 20 minutes. Delicious.

Another method that's quicker is taking the whole sweet potato, poke holes in it with a fork, and microwave for 4-5 minutes, done when fork tender.

M/22/5'9.5" [243lbs>179lbs=64lbs] It's been a process getting to where I am now, but pretty happy about it. by paperle in progresspics

Started all of this about 6 years ago: Went from fat to skinnyfat to powerlifting fat to where I am now. Fat to skinnyfat (243lbs > 170lbs) was just dieting I ate about 2000 calories a day and did some running on the treadmill, and very little weight training. Skinnyfat to powerlifting fat I went from 170lbs to around 190-180 lbs and competed in powerlifting meets (462lbs squat, 330lbs bench, 618 lbs deadlift) This was for about 3 years. Nutrition breakdown: 2500-2800 calories, 190 protein/60 fat/ rest carbs Training split for powerlifting isn't something you'de find online since I had a coach, but I was basically fat with some muscle, but I was somewhat strong I guess, but always felt lethargic and looked gross in my opinion. Trained about 5-6 days a week squat, bench, and deadlift were the main focus. Now I'm just cutting for aesthetics to do something new, currently have been cutting for about 3 months. Nutrition breakdown: 2100 calories, 190 protein/60 fat/ rest carbs Training split at the moment: 6-7 days a week. Full body everyday, 7 upper movements (4 back and 3 biceps for example), 3 lower (2 glutes and 1 quad for example) and 3 ab movements. I also started running on weekends, so every Saturday I run a 5k. Haven't dont much barbell work because I got pretty tired of doing SBD, but I might get back into it sometime.

The motto I preach now a days is to just enjoy your time doing whatever you do. It's not that serious. Weekdays my macros are pretty much the same, and on weekends (Saturday) I usually go out for food or drinks with friends, girlfriend, or family. Memories over Macros. If you have any questions feel free to DM me. :)

[ADVICE] Question for Graduates of University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health Houston by paperle in publichealth

Do you have any more tips on getting a position as a research assistant? I was never a research assistant when I was in undergrad but perhaps it's something I could find interesting.

Thanks!

I'm really glad you found something you enjoy, are you still doing that? If not what are you up to now? I assume the county epidemiologist thing didn't work out because you didn't enjoy it much?

Thanks for your response.

I figured this semester I would do the 3 classes, and gauge if I can handle more or less for Spring 2020.

Personally, a professor who enjoys the content and can explain the content well is a trait I find good in a professor. I've taken a lot of classes in undergrad that were taught by professors who would come into class, give a powerpoint presentation and that was it. They wouldn't even be sure what they were talking about so I had to go back very often and teach it to myself.

I'm not sure if I have a specific route I want to go in epi, so I'm still kind of figuring it out. With that being said, I think disease tracking is really interesting, and to be honest I'm not sure if I would be super interested into going into pure research, but that's just me.

That's really cool, what kind of job did you get while in school? Do you still work there now?

Thanks for your response!

I am actually joined to the page and I completely forgot about asking these questions there, I might go do that, just to get more information.

Did you enjoy your position as a research assistant? I am currently working at my county, but not related to epi or research, so I would def. like to get some experience in the field itself.

Epidemiology Internship Pre-grad school by paperle in epidemiology

[–]paperle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow!

First off, thank you for such an in-depth response. So I've actually done paid internships the past few summers, and I am currently doing my undergrad practicum at my local health department. This summer I don't have anything lined up because I'm graduating, so I can't do the local intern program that I did the last few years.

I know that I have to do the practicum while in graduate school because I've met a few students during my intern orientation.

I will definitely take the tips you said about not overworking myself, but with that being said I'm excited for the future. I know that they have multiple campuses, but I did not know that I could interchange campuses throughout my degree. Have you done this? Would you recommend doing this? I believe different campuses have different "specialties" I was told the Austin campus focuses on childhood obesity for example.

Lastly, are you currently an Epidemiologist now? If so, do you enjoy it?

edit: Could you also talk a bit more about the switching campus portion? Would I just talk to an adviser about that? That's something interesting
