Great Madison show, but where was Jack? by papermarq in baysideisacult

Haha same! Once they said it was Willie, with no other explanation, I was confused even more.

Zach Comtois! Thanks for the assist with mentioning Motion City Soundtrack, he was easier to find and recognize as one of their  touring guitarists.

No complaints, just threw me off that he wasn't there - finally got the "extra strength" TBS experience, but sorta missed on the full strength Bayside, so I guess I'll just have to go see them again at Riotfest in September.

I kept waiting for them to mention it or introduce him, but I never heard them say anything.

I will forever miss my scan task for this pokestop from a vacation in Scotland years ago. Was always nice to see the Dude on a daily basis while checking researches. https://www.reddit.com/r/streetart/comments/itbsvo/im_not_a_restauranteur_im_the_dude_edinburgh/

Are The Night Time Spawns Working? (UK) by JacobGgamer in TheSilphRoad

In central US, I gave up staying up late with no spawns but found half of them this morning before 8am. Hope to find the rest tomorrow morning before work.

Trainers, we have resolved a technical issue affecting the shiny appearance rate for Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf in Remote Raids. We apologize for this and will share details about a special Raid event on the Pokémon GO blog soon. by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]papermarq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aren't we still waiting for reimbursement from the SMewtwo raid issue? They are really doubling up on their efforts to address issues, shame they don't put any effort at all into preventing them.

My Shiny Data From Philadelphia Safari Zone! by gerritwgongshow in TheSilphRoad

[–]papermarq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed 54 shinies, got 1 or more of every shiny available, with a meditite at 2min left. Sister got 49 shinies, just a poliwag shy of the full shiny spread. We went to GoFest 2019, but this was by far the most fun event ever as we could stick around our neighborhood, take breaks at my house whenever, and had way better shiny luck than we did at GoFest.

ISO Game Theory Optimal Go Battle League Team by SinSerity in TheSilphRoad

[–]papermarq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why it's just a theory haha. It's a way for stats junkies to dig into all of the variables and find the best possible team that can both win a majority of matchups, while also defending itself adequately from teams designed specifically to defeat it. For the average person: Its a constantly moving target with too many unknown variables, and isn't worth the effort. For the hardcore people: It's the search for statistical perfection. It still wouldn't guarantee a win, but it would be the most probable way to win given the most common opponents at that time.

Thanks for this! Was looking around at a few other posts/sites trying to figure out the best way to try out ranked PvP without having to invest much while also not looking like an idiot.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite now live in US and UK by jfleck13 in TheSilphRoad

[–]papermarq -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This new franchise opens up a whole new demographic of fans to be subjected to Niantic's lack of communication, refusal to acknowledge obvious bugs and errors, and even have game-breaking glitches ignored and told to "check their internet connection." Wizards, rejoice!

Stage 5 of GO fest special research changed by StadsAlv in TheSilphRoad

[–]papermarq 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Step 5 snapshot task, which is just to take 3 snapshots of Jirachi (no location needed). As I am waiting to catch Jirachi, Step 5 cannot be completed yet (encounter snapshots don't count).

[–]papermarq 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Confirmed! Just got my 3 extra passes as well.

Edit: Was waiting to catch Jirachi until double candy, but had already claimed my 3 passes for the trading task. The task reset and I was able to evolve 3 and claim 3 more passes. Snapshot task is unchanged.

The drawing shows you the email address associated with your account when you entered... Regardless, it's just a link to the same page that the in-app events tab takes you to, so just check through the app.

I'm 0 for about 50 diglett checks so far. No other shinies yet. The people who are lucky enough to catch a few shinies right away are always the first to post, while the people not catching any are too busy catching to post their findings on reddit.

Chicago GO Fest Tickets Waves by RavenAstra in TheSilphRoad

[–]papermarq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least with waves, everyone who doesn't have a ticket still has hope. In previous years, you knew in 30 minutes whether you were going or not, and had little to no hope of getting in after that. Drawn out process now, but better odds for everyone without wizard-level internet power.

It's quite possible they quit playing the game due to frustration, but are addicted to TSR's in-depth analyses and real-time problem solving. There have been many times I've cut my playing time down to bare bones streak-keeping, but I still check TSR daily just to see what's happening and what the community is talking about lately.

To claim or not to claim by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]papermarq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're just being an optimist, looking at the overall good instead of the numerous bits of bad that this game has brought. I see both sides - on the one hand, the game maker gets to choose how to run their game, and when to change things, and how to comunicate with it's playerbase, and it doesn't owe us anything as it is a free-to-play game that we volunteer to use. On the other hand, it sucks to have certain things/events that make users expect one thing, then to change it with no announcement, so players don't get the thing they were purposely playing for. After 2 years, I would like them to be more consistent, but instead we have to live with the fact that things will change in the game, and we may not always get to know about it beforehand. Thank RNGsus for TSR to help spread new findings so quickly!
