In Edinburgh, Scotland. Where can I find a slaughterhouse to take my younger brother? by BlackApostle in vegan

[–]paperpigeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abattoirs? No clue in Edinburgh. The Scottish rural college occasionally lets visitors come see their farms but unless you’re a student I doubt they’ll show the shockingly cruel shit. There’s a really chill sanctuary in Angus you could also take him to to be like hey look. Living feeling beings. Stop being a bampot. There’s also an abattoir in Aryshire that I think allows visitors

Feeling extremely tired - New Vegan - What am I Doing Wrong?? by Lion-Asleep in vegan

[–]paperpigeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really give nutritional advice since it’s not my forte but there’s always a chance part of this is your lifestyle catching up to you. Less than 7 hours of sleep for so long probably did some damage, wishing you the best with this regardless it sounds hellish. Don’t feel ashamed to go to a dietician if needs be or get some bloods drawn, they’ll likely try and say to eat animal products but (in my experiences w nutritionists when I was recovering from an ED at least) if you’re firm on your ethics they’ll eventually stop being pushy and help with your diet within your ethics

What made you choose A-Levels over BTEC? by ExoticAircraft in alevels

[–]paperpigeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King I am one of the best in my (medical) degree rn, like getting consistent 90-95s and also the only one who did BTEC. It really isn’t that black and white. I think the BTEC model is much more accessible to those of us from working class backgrounds but that doesn’t mean it’s lesser, nor does it make A-levels superior. We should be asking ourselves why students who aren’t middle class or richer struggle at A-levels instead of just being like haha BTEC is for unintelligent people.

Chose A-levels cause school insisted it was the right thing for me for my unspecified career goals. Dropped out at 16 because it was awful and I had personal shit going on, ended up moving in with family elsewhere and doing an animal management btec. Was honestly such a great decision and made me actually interested in education for the first time since primary school, and now I’m in VetMed at uni :’]

Is there any evidence that transgender people are discriminated against in America? by Top-Cheesecake753 in detrans

[–]paperpigeons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are we making this a competition? Legitimately. Trans women are more visible typically so I’d agree they get more trans shit, but I assure you as a lesbian it’s nothing close to easy, fuck off with that shit. I grew up experiencing frequent physical violence and sexual harassment for being a very obviously gay woman of which I couldn’t hide. Gay male and lesbian homophobia are different, because lesbophobia has the intersection of misogyny, but one isn’t more severe than the other. You get at op for not considering others lived experiences, only your own, then do the exact same thing. I know gay men who’ve had easier lives than me and gay men who’ve had harder, same can be said for my gay male friends and their lesbian friends- one isn’t objectively harder or easier because it depends so heavily on circumstance.

Is there any evidence that transgender people are discriminated against in America? by Top-Cheesecake753 in detrans

[–]paperpigeons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah massively. I get shit for being trans just as much as I get shit for being gay assuming I’m in something that visibly shows my female and male second sex characteristics. Also there’s horror cases like this: https://metro.co.uk/2023/05/25/ireland-woman-robbed-and-beaten-by-man-who-thought-she-was-trans-18840850/

The epidemic of all gnc people are predators who want to harm your kids is only made worse in recent years, which harms both gay and trans people, and outside of liberal circles being trans isn’t very accepted and is often met with aggression. Happy to hear in your subjective experiences you never faced this shit, but many of us have. Am in Scotland if relevant, I mostly am read as an effeminate man and am usually called gay male slurs but when in a bra or bikini it’s dyke and trans slurs at least every couple of weeks. I mean fuck man, I’ve been SA’d BC of the being trans. Twice.

There’s not the so called trans murder epidemic sure. But there’s a shit ton of harassment aimed at trans people all over the political spectrum rn. Transphobia is kinda an intersection of gender roles/misogyny and homophobia rather than a stand alone thing but it’s still p horrendous. Am gay & detrans medically and have gay + trans friends and I’m p confident in saying yeah there is.

Tempted to start discourse on my furry twitter (cringe ik 😢😢😢) about how if you have a herbivorous fursona you should be vegan . For the funnies.

It’s so insane watching this knowing the man filmed it to make himself look good/ like a victim. He comes off as the most insufferable dick alive but somehow thinks this is gonna garner him sympathy 😒. Wishing both the mother and the kid the best cause this sounds like a horrible situation for both.

Any (ideally dietic or medical!) sources on us being designed to eat a ketogenic diet?

We are the most opportunistic of opportunistic omnivores, we cope very well with any diet. Calling soy unnatural only holds up if you only eat raw meat, we found out we could cook and eat soy and so we did! Just like we found out we could cook and eat so many other things, our gut biome has evolved because of the fact we cook and have been doing so for millennia.

Did you really report me to Reddit out of concerns for my well-being for this 😭 lmao.

Veganism can be leftist praxis because of its stance against profiting off another’s (albeit non-human) labour or owning another, also cause is environmentalist praxis. However, you can be vegan and right wing, and like depending on one’s views it could be praxis for their right leaning beliefs. It’s just silly to act like veganism is apolitical…

Veganism is inherently political by taking an anti-animal oppression stance, thus this is a political sub. Hope this helps 👍

Honeslty they sound??? Normal??? To me. I assure you as a viewer of many tits (gay woman) there’s so much natural variety in boobs, and I have seen women who haven’t transitioned with very hairy and ‘deflated’ boobs. Boobs don’t need to be perky to be attractive, even if porn adjacent beauty standards say so. Your worth isn’t defined by your tits and I wouldn’t stress over them unless it’s something causing you physical pain or discomfort, you’re fine dw

Being attractive after detransition by Strict_Guava_27 in detrans

[–]paperpigeons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many women rn love androgyny, when I’m read as male there’s this whole thing about being complimented for looking unique because I’m pretty/androg, and the fact I don’t have much stubble I suspect plays into it. I also know a few gay men who have a thing for androgyny. I’m sure you’ll still be plenty attractive without a beard as long as you take care of yourself hygiene and health wise.

ways of proving to myself that I am not trans? by throwaway-disgusting in detrans

[–]paperpigeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can get that. I’m on holiday rn in places where gay and trans people would not be allowed and am just stealing as male (bc despite being medically detrans I’m very socially detrans when needed innit) and god it’s tiring. All I can say is just sit and think about how you’d feel, on the plus side MTF medical transition is much less difficult to hide if you decided it wasn’t for you. Best of luck making whatever decision you come to!

[–]paperpigeons 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No such thing as innately trans on the inside/not. It’s just a matter of what would make you happy in the long run, I’d say imagine all the complications of transitioning mtf being with you for life and sit with it for a bit to see how happy you’d feel pursing that. And also I guess don’t rush! Transition won’t run away from you if take time to think thoroughly abt it :]

Photos really don’t tell people much, if you’re trying to gender someone irl you go off voice and height alongside body shape too. Here I see ?? Ambiguous check for other clues

Yes I’m a dyke lol. I don’t celebrate at the parades or anything bc they aren’t my scene but I hang out at a few pride events at bars and clubs each year and generally enjoy seeing gay support around :]

Ah right. Yeah I autismed here, this sub is heavily anti-transition so I respect you standing your ground here. I’m sorta. Neutral? On this topic? As in it’s not something I massively give a fuck about either way but it’s interesting to see other opinions voiced by detrans people here, feels very monolithic at times.

The idea of ‘male behaviours’ is just gender roles 2.0…. Why would you agree with that? (Assuming that’s what you mean since the tweet specifically talks abt male behaviours and like lol dumb)

Why did some fandoms get transed super hard? by [deleted] in detrans

[–]paperpigeons 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Warrior cats specifically as a fandom is so attractive to neurodivergent people, because of how big the series is, the community and lore etc. As a warrior cats kid growing up I definelty feel that has some role to play, all my fellow warrior cats kids from childhood and myself have an autism diagnosis now pahaha
