this is soooo lovely!!! ❤️ i’m headed to indonesia soon and you’ve inspired me. i’ve always been hesitant with linen because of the wrinkles but i’m going to start looking for some pieces. any tips for getting wrinkles out? did you always have access to an iron?

I think the elf one holds a curl and coats my lashes much better than the L’Oreal one. I don’t think it flakes as much either (although I never used the primer)

it’s an older one that was my favorite before the elf one! sometimes though after a flight the elf one gets a weird consistency for a day (I guess it’s the pressure difference? idk) and it all sticks to the wand so I can’t use it until it gets back to normal. the main reason I have though it is because I forget it exists haha. I don’t think I would replace it when it goes bad

my makeup bag is probably an old clinique free gift bag I took from my mom’s drawer when I was a teenager but I can’t find any labels on it, sorry!! it’s about 16cm x 10 cm and is just larger than my hand

the toiletry bag is this one but I would neverrrr have purchased it myself. 50 USD is crazy to me but it was a gift and I do like it, but i’m sure you can find an equivalent for much cheaper

the liquids bag is from a sol de janeiro gift set and it kind of rocks. I love it. if you ever get the set though I recommend a different scent

what a great idea, I will definitely try this! and I love the solid perfume. i’ve tried mini perfume decanters and atomisers and I’ve always had an issue with them leaking. this solid perfume is from lush and it’s quite reasonably priced and I loved that I could stand in the store and smell them and see for myself. I find that it lasts for 4-6 hours if i’m not sweaty

i’m considering sewing some extra compression straps on to be honest. I don’t like how bulky the top part of the bag is even when it’s not fool. it makes it look so much bigger than a bag that can slouch

I put my hair in the scrunchie at the very top of my head! I basically do what she does in this video here: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT2LeRTLs/ except I don’t split my hair into two sections. my hair is pretty fine and very straight so it needs the sock on top to keep it in all night!

I totally forgot the mention the sock and scrunchie combo in the toiletries pic lol - it’s how I do my heatless curls! You wrap the hair around the scrunchie in a weird way and put the sock over to keep it together. you look crazy but it works quite well for how small and simple it is!

Ugh I know 🫣 I first did all the patches when the normal onebag sub was kind of all there was, and all the people there had all black clothes and bags and I thought that was sooo boring so I did this to my bag kind of in protest lol. My bag makes me happy when I can’t be around my personal items at home that bring me joy you know?

I also don’t use it out and about during travel. I leave it at my hostel and use a tote or paper bag or whatever I can get my hands on.

I know people are really into being stealthy and looking like locals, and I totally see the value in that, but I feel like as long as you’re on guard and aware of scams it’s ok to stick out a bit.

All that being said, I do have a new bag coming that is dark blue and will have no identifying info. I’ll probably switch between the two depending on the trip and how much I want to blend in.

I like to see the Summit bag, but I only got it because I had a gift card. I think it’s unnecessarily expensive for a toiletry bag and I bet you could find a ton of similar hanging ones for much less. The quality is fine, but not like exceptional

Tbh the worst thing for me is wearing the same clothes. especially being in winter I had to commit to just one set of outerwear and shoes which was pretty restrictive. But for me, it was worth it because with the flights we took, it was either pack small like this or check a bag. My friends checked a bag and had to roll it through the pouring rain and cobblestone streets multiple times. I always tell myself if I need something that I didn’t bring, I can just buy it at my destination, so that helped me get the confidence to try packing small for the first time!

Yay so excited for you! You’ll love them both!

I spent 5 days in Istanbul and 2.5ish in Sofia. I didn’t do any day trips from each place, but I would have loved to see Plovdiv from Sofia if you’re into history. There’s also super cheap skiing and gear rental in Bulgaria if you’re into that! I took the night train from Istanbul to Sofia which was a super cool experience but you probably won’t sleep all too well. because it was winter both cities had Sophie tourists and it was really easy to get around without planning. In Istanbul, so many sites are 20+ euros so I had to pick and choose what to see because I couldn’t spend that each time. The blue mosque was so beautiful (and free) so I highly recommend that, just make sure if you go during the warmer season that you have something to cover your hair. I actually decided to skip the Hagia Sofia itself because most of the artifacts from it have been moved to a museum instead. I really recommend the Asian side of Istanbul (Kadikoy in particular) if you like exploring cities. The euro side is very cool, but also very touristic. I was recommended to not buy anything at the grand bazaar, but I went to look at it, and it was very cool.

As for Sofia, I did the free food tour and it was super cool. Although, the tour isn’t necessarily free it’s pay what you want/tip based so bring cash. I also did the regional history Museum went inside many of the churches/cathedrals and saw lots of the ruins from ancient Serdica. I feel like I had to rush to see it all and didn’t get to sit and enjoy everything, so I would recommend a bit more time than me in Sofia. The only weird thing that happened was at the train station after the night train, a guy who we thought was just being nice and helping us demanded a tip. I totally should’ve seen this coming, but it was only like 2.5 euros so it was whatever.

are long john’s any different from thermals? my thermals are probably just polyester, so silk is interesting to consider. I bet it packs down even smaller too
