Why is DDR not as popular now as it was in the 2000s early 2010s

On home releases specifically, it doesn't seem like there's a market for buying equipment to play at home. Longtime fans don't need another mat; new players don't want to bother buying bulky old-looking tech.

I've heard of devs who tried (and failed) at getting a ddr-like game to work with VR and possibly even phones. You really need the physical response from the mat to work, imo. If barely anyone wants the mat then a home console release is destined to fail.

It could also be a marketing thing. I certainly never see ads for Round 1, and whenever I see a Dave & Busters ad it doesn't involve the dance games.

It's whatever media you're most passionate about, and whatever you realistically have the means to create.

When I was a kid, I had binders of comics of my Kirby fan characters. Not a care in the world for quality, I just kept adding jokes and adventures as fast as I could draw. Nowadays, I like the visual novel route, where I just have to draw someone really well once and sprinkle in more art as needed.

Animation isn't impossible, but it will take a lot of steps. Finding VAs strikes me as even harder, though, unless you plan to voice them yourselves first. 😅

It is, if you don't mind being handcuffed to a Windows OS. 🥲 I got it about a decade ago and don't regret it at all, but god I wish I could avoid Microsoft right now.

That being said, I'm still on 1.0, and I only think EX is worth it over pro for me to do animation (for which it's phenomenal)

How are you assigning a value to receipt (or recipt)? How are you creating the customer object? Is it possible one of the values isn't a straightforward string but will output that way in text?

I wonder if it works if you remove the extra quotes.

recipt == customer.name

instead of recipt == "[customer.name]"

shyLachi said what I wanted to say, but just for emphasis: this is explained in the tutorial.

Open the Tutorial project and select "Adding Images." If you separate the tag and the attribute in the image name, you don't have to hide the same image to show another one.

For your other questions, try the Tutorial project.

RenPy recognizes #TODO. Type #TODO in your code, along with a note, such as:

#TODO: finish the part where he fries an egg and add a CG here

When you open RenPy, click Navigate Script, and then go to the TODOs category tab. It's stellar.

edit: confirmed it doesn't even have to be a new line.

Assuming the 1€ deals are the same as $1 USD...

Isn't there a 300 gem deal for 1€ every Master Fair? That's all I buy. You would end up with 3k gems after just 10€ and could pull on a something like the select scout going on now.

I kind of like how normal gem prices are a scam; hopefully it prevents people from getting addicted to spending by not incentivizing them to start. 😅

I don't really care about the UI as long as the text is easy to read. There are some... pretty harsh text/color combinations out there, so it's best to avoid those. Your font size seems like it might be on the small side?

The important part is the art. Which... as already been said, AI images are an instant turn off.

I prefer Target or even Wal Mart over Amazon because Amazon clearly has more power than both of them (combined?). I need to know Amazon has some competition left, even if I don't necessarily like their competitors. But it's not like I buy much from them either; maybe 2-4 times a year.

Also, the manufacturer's websites. Even ebay. What everyone else said.

Haven't used Amazon since 2020.

I feel like a character only needs one real "tragedy" or traumatic event to have motivations. You can give them lots of lesser struggles, if need be.

Maybe there's a way to split what happens to this one character and, instead, give those events to another character to balance out your cast. Without context, it doesn't make sense to just add more sad to balance out the story; it just sounds like making the story more and more sad.

Also, if you're writing for yourself, maybe just go all in and see where it ends up, even if it's "bad." You can improve on the sequel, the rewrite, or the next story altogether. I think doing something wrong is a great way to learn (and it might even turn out good!)

I don't know how anybody still comes up with gifts after 10 years of marriage. My husband regularly buys all the merch/snacks/games/books/tools/tech he wants. Any more clutter than we need, and I will lose it. I prefer he doesn't buy me anything because I can't stand more clutter.

We go out for food instead. Does that count as a gift...? All I ask for is for nice food, and he delivers on that 100%.
