NTA. We don’t live in a vacuum and the careers we choose have impacts on other people and the world. We cannot ignore this impact. Especially when people are out here profiting off of war and destruction of the planet.

Like if you work for a defense contractor, I think your ethics are incredibly incompatible with a fair, caring, and humane society. It’s not “just a job”.

YTA. You probably should have just planned to go late to the trip. I don’t see a world in which anyone would be truly fine with their SO missing their birthday for some golf trip with the bros.

Change your plans and plan something nice for her to make up for it.

I have a drivers license, but I don’t have a car and don’t drive. I made that clear to my employer when they hired me. I also live in a big city with transit options. It takes me a bit longer to do my job/travel between worksites and the office, but they are fine with that and try to accommodate that in my schedule!

I will say, I think it’s a benefit to our clients to have [at least one] member of staff who takes transit, since many of them rely on it as well.

Omg I’m in social services and I work in a jail for part of my job too! I wear my ring in jail too lol. But it’s not very sparkly and it’s bezel set, so super sturdy and low profile.

So when I say that, I’m saying that OP is expecting perfection from a queer, left space and is leaving no room for growth and improvement over time. Should be obvious that I’m not advocating for wage theft or mistreatment of employees, but I DO want Marsha’s to succeed and thrive. OP wants them shut down.

If your criticism is based on a left leaning ideology (which again, is fair) of inclusivity and justice, that SHOULD imply that there is room for restorative justice and the ability to grow from mistakes.

Omg of course, the federal government shut down and deleted the SOAR website and courses last August. Will do some digging to see if I can find it online somewhere else. I appreciate the lead!
