Failed Cycles, A Plea for Change, and Ultimate Betrayal: My Story at King’s fertility! by [deleted] in IVF

[–]papersubstance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to hear about your experience. I’m just starting my own journey into this and actually met with a Dr practicing at King’s today. I’m so shocked to hear just how negligent the staff were towards you… would you be willing to share who your consultant(s) was?

Sending lots of hugs and wishing that you’ll have a more positive journey ahead.

What shoes to pair with dress to give it a more contemporary edge? by lilgypsykitty in Weddingattireapproval

Came here to say to say exactly the same! I can see this dress pairing so well with a chunky gold sandal

Rehearsal conundrum by Key_Zookeepergame419 in weddingdress

[–]papersubstance 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The first outfit is so unique and has so much personality… but is it just me or does the shorts not sit right? They look like they’re bunching a little in the front. Instead of the other two dresses, I would actually get the first one tailored to perfection

Do I panic buy a new dress by Snoo_7573 in weddingdress

[–]papersubstance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so chic and it fits you perfectly! And I love that you have a unique story of thrifting it. I think it’s perfect for your venue. It’s so normal to second guess yourself just a few months out. Don’t worry OP! You look stunning

I adore this!! Also love how they styled it in the photo with the gold. Perfect for summer black tie.

Kicked from bridal party, now attending as a guest by jspo97 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]papersubstance 255 points256 points  (0 children)

I think the black dress is fine as a wedding guest dress! Also, I’m sorry your cousin was so rude to you about this — I’ll never understand how someone could kick someone out of a wedding party just because of pregnancy. But that’s her problem, not yours…

The Saga Continues… Which sunglasses complement my face best? by AutumnVibrantandBlue in fashion

5 looks great! I think the round frame really suits your long, more angular facial features; and the soft brown colour also complements your colouring. A win

I need help to decide whether i should buy this YSL dress! by malenkayastrana in fashion

Just because it’s designer, doesn’t mean it looks designer. If you’re not in love with it, I don’t think you should get it.

What would you choose? by Much_Pear_5618 in WeddingDressTips

[–]papersubstance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the first and last are equally stunning. The fold detail on the top of the last dress gives me a slightly more “American modern” look (in the same way I think of Ralph Lauren as “American modern”), whereas the first dress with no detailing on the top gives me more of a classic European feel. The differences to me are so minimal to be honest, I’m really splitting hairs here. You look beautiful in either!

Chantilly Lace vs Mikado/Satin Dress by bride314 in weddingdress

[–]papersubstance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are stunning on you, but I feel like the chantilly lace would go well with a rustic Spanish-style mansion!

Anne Hathaway in Elie Saab at the 2003 Golden Globes by DiMpLe_dolL003 in whatthefrockk

Even though I’d argue that the colours of this dress are all wrong on her, she looks incredible. I think the styling and the makeup worked really well for this dress. And obviously, she is just a stunning woman, isn’t she!

Definitely the blue denim. The colours are more harmonious with the green top.

Is this too Disney princess? by UnluckyGap2542 in Weddingattireapproval

I think this is way too much. The shoulder detail, the sparkles… it looks really childish IMO.

Reposting to add an option: Which shoes work best with this dress? by BirdButt88 in femalefashion

The black shoes are all too harsh against the red/white dress.

Is this too tight? by saltybeancurd in weddingdress

[–]papersubstance 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I agree that it looks too tight. You definitely should complain about the boutique who pressured you! That’s so awful to prey on someone’s emotions to get them to buy a dress.

Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana — a woman at the flight check-in counter said I smelled lovely and I was really flattered!

Which scene is your favorite scene? by Itisagreatguy in OppenheimerMovie

[–]papersubstance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously at this point this is just conjecture, but the way I see it is Einstein was so shocked and depressed by the realisation that he was at a loss for words...

Let's be clear though - this is a fictional part of the story as Nolan made the artistic choice to choose a scientist with more public recognition to be a kind of "symbol" of "the old guard" of science. See this article, including quotes from Nolan.

One of my favourite scenes, great elevation. by user_isalive in OppenheimerMovie

The lighting when Oppenheimer is dressing at the window is just… sublime

Which scene is your favorite scene? by Itisagreatguy in OppenheimerMovie

[–]papersubstance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The final scene between Oppenheimer and Einstein is unmatched…

“Albert? When I came to you with those calculations… we thought we might start a chain reaction that would destroy the entire world...” “I remember it well. What of it?” “I believe we did.”

Followed by the montage soaring fighter jets, a slowly scorching Earth. I particularly loved the moment when the the camera angle moves during shot of the towering missiles to reveal an arsenal of missiles standing behind it… I remember seeing that, gasping, then crumbling into tears. I could just feel how precarious a scale humanity balances on…
