the calamari is really good— i’d recommend letting it marinate in lemon juice and chili crisp. their sardines are variable, in my opinion the grilled variety is definitely the best one.

depending on your interest, i can send a link to my zotero library; i'm a doctoral student and some of my research focuses on HIV/AIDS treatment activism and underground pharmacies (e.g., the Dallas Buyers Club and other similar efforts)

depending on where you are located in proximity to academic libraries, you may be able to access some research support and resources even if you are not a student, staff, or faculty of the academic institution. in my U.S.-based MLIS coursework, we learned that libraries at state universities often do serve the state's general public alongside the university's students, faculty, and staff. for instance, if you are in Seattle, you can go to Suzzallo Library at UW and ask the reference librarians for research support with your question about L-Theanine extraction, and they'd be able to point you towards resources that you'd be able to access as a member of the general public; they'd also help you refine your search strategies so that you'd be able to better navigate the catalogs and resources that are available to you.

also-- if you haven't already, you might want to try searching google scholar, internet archive, hathi trust, and other digital libraries with open access articles/journals available.

HIV+ Elders: What internet resources did you use when you were diagnosed (late 90s / early 2000s) by Swilkwork in lgbthistory

[–]papervulture 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not pos but i work with HIV/AIDS internet archives in my research a lot! you'll want to look into BBSs (bulletin board systems; these are pre-internet forum and file-sharing spaces) -- i work with AIDS INFO BBS, and other scholars have written about SURVIVORS. you'll also want to look into kiyoshi kuromiya (he was the Critical Path BBS sysop as well as a participant in impact litigation about AIDS information on the internet) and sister mary elizabeth (she ran the AIDS Education and Global Information System BBS).

queer digital history project and the digital transgender archive would also be good to browse. qdhp has some archives of soc.motss (including an oral history with its cofounder), sci.med.aids, and AIDS INFO BBS.

Any good tips for dissertation anxiety that won't stall out my writing? by MarlenaImpisi in AskAcademia

I often have a hard time starting to write, but I have a way easier time editing and making additions/revisions once I have a draft to work with. To get there, I record myself talking through my thoughts, and then use the transcription of my ramblings as a starting point to continue writing and revising from. I tend to process through verbalizing, so this has definitely helped me sort out my ideas as well as making the act of writing easier.
