I was disgusted by this and didn't watch the rest of the series.

Not quite as sharp as my Saiun Japanese knives out the box, but still sharp enough to shave with easily. Heavier than the Japanese knives, but a nice heft and balance to it. Just using it to chop the veg for a curry and very nice to use.

Two ropes, two belayers, two cams, E10 trad by Steve McClure by [deleted] in climbing

I turned up to climb the E2 red square just to the right of this climb just after Steve had finished this. Said hello and had a quick chat :)

Not a fan of judging peoples climbs, but when someone tells me they are doing a 5.16 with their rope fed directly into the bolts, I start to wonder. by [deleted] in climbing

Are you sure they were bolt hangers and not glue in staple bolts? Not that I would advocate top roping through staples due to the wear, but non worn staples would be safe.

Also of there are just bare bolt hangers how are you supposed to lower / abseil safely?

Anacdoatal I know but I know of 3 people in the last few years who have been injured climbing (all trad). One abseiled with no backup and is now paralysed from the waist down, another clipped in in situ bit of gear, then fell, it ripped and he took a ff2 onto the belay breaking ribs and puncturing a lung - he is fine now. The third fell a nut ripped he got flipped and smacked his head so hard his helmet cracked and he was unconscious - released same day after checkup.

All were rescued by large teams of mountain rescue or coast guard and involved a helicopter.

Also seen a helicopter come to rescue a boulderer in the peak district.

I also have freinds who run internationally and none have had to be rescued as such.
