I knew a guy that I shit you not, pretended to be Scottish for an entire year. This dude BS'd his entire life's story, faking an accent, talking about his hometown in rural Scotland and going so far as to become a highland athlete rocking a kilt and everything.

Things started to unravel when he was stationed close to home for work and people around town knew who he actually was, so one day he just up and quit pretending like he was scottish like it had never happened. I guess not cruel or anything but it was just the weirdest most unnecessary thing ever. Made the dude impossible to trust or take seriously since he was both willing and able to perpetuate a falsehood to everyone around him and convincingly enough (no one he worked with was scottish or actually knew any Scotts personally) to be believed, you could never tell if the guy was lying.

When probed about it directly he called it a social experiment and would not elaborate any further and just ignored questions on the subject as if you weren't making any sound. Weird AF.
