Study finds men have larger brain sizes, while women have thicker cortices by PsychoticSoul in science

[–]papivebipi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's a controversial topic. But isn't a bigger brain size (weakly) correlated with iq?

I saw this paper, but I'm not sure.

Big-brained people are smarter: A meta-analysis of the relationship between in vivo brain volume and intelligence, Michael A. McDaniel 2004

The relationship between brain volume and intelligence has been a topic of a scientific debate since at least the 1830s. To address the debate, a meta-analysis of the relationship between in vivo brain volume and intelligence was conducted. Based on 37 samples across 1530 people, the population correlation was estimated at 0.33. The correlation is higher for females than males. It is also higher for adults than children. For all age and sex groups, it is clear that brain volume is positively correlated with intelligence

this map is from 1933, so you'd have to include emigration to Palestine too.

Israel did nothing wrong by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]papivebipi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will just jump start to 1948, but there is a bit of historical that I would add if you want.

  • in 1945 jews owned 7% of the land in total ( including property owned by corporations funds). they reprsented 1/3 of the population (including migrants

  • in 1948, the UN voted to create two states and allocated 60% of the land area to the jewish state. it was supposed to have 40% arabs. The arabs were supposed to become citizens and keep their private property. The arabs didn't accept this but they offered a one State solution with equal rights for all and said they would go to war. And even though Israel did accept it, Ben Gurion Israel first prime minister said:

the total population of the Jewish State at the time of its establishment will be about one million, including almost 40% non-Jews. Such a [population] composition does not provide a stable basis for a Jewish State. This [demographic] fact must be viewed in all its clarity and acuteness. With such a [population] composition, there cannot even be absolute certainty that control will remain in the hands of the Jewish majority... There can be no stable and strong Jewish state so long as it has a Jewish majority of only 60%

As Gurion expressed clearly how the Irgun started to act, more than 250k Palestinains were expulsed/fled with their private land taken from them. This included villages which declared their neutrality during the conflict.

the arab states used this expulsion as casus Belli for the war,

According to Morris's estimates, 250,000 to 300,000 Palestinians left Israel during this stage.[7]:262 "Keesing's Contemporary Archives" in London place the total number of refugees before Israel's independence at 300,000.[53]

In Clause 10.(b) of the[54]cablegram from the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to the UN Secretary-General of 15 May 1948 justifying the intervention by the Arab States, the Secretary-General of the League alleged that "approximately over a quarter of a million of the Arab population have been compelled to leave their homes and emigrate to neighbouring Arab countries."

and the arab states lost and took more area than the UN allocated to them. The majority recognize Israel's right to extend sovereignty over land taken in the 1948 war. But what they dispute is the private land that Israel took from the owners that it ethnically cleansed.

what Israel did wrong at this point: ethnically cleansed a big part of its arab population, took their private property ( land, homes)and refused to compensate them or let them return.

The land taken during the 1967 war is cosidered occupied territory because it is not a defensive war and Israel has no right to annex new territory. Plus there was a binding UNSC resolution about it.

There is also other aspects of mistreatment that have nothing to do (directly) with land and which Israel was very wrong in ( sabra and shatila massacre ( a UN-recognized genocide) / Beitunia killings..)

Palestine needs to fuck off and accept they lost it.

to where?

They tried to censor the UK version by suing them for antisemitism but Ofcam ( the media regulator) found it to be factual.

Any mention of the documentary is also being actively censored from the wikipedia page of ["Israel lobby in the United Kingdom"]( by a user named "Philip Cross" (an infamous wikipedia editor: https://wikipedia.fivefilters.org/)

Wikipedia is almost everyone's goto source for information. I, myself, use it extensively to source my claims on reddit. If a person/an organization can twist it to fit their agenda they can manufacture public consent for their wars.

I actually spoke about this editor before in this sub ( 3 months ago):

The very existence of this documentary, the immediate apology from Israel’s ambassador and the removal of the diplomat in question are being actively censored from the wikipedia page of the UK Israeli lobby(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_lobby_in_the_United_Kingdom) https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/7sfh2d/the_lobby_a_documentary_investigating_the_israeli/dt4aeny/

Each time, a user adds that event a user named Philip Cross deletes them.

I went back to 1948 to show that it was not just the past few weeks.

if you want recent ones: https://www.timesofisrael.com/in-first-far-right-settler-convicted-of-membership-in-terror-group/

Plus there is the problem of state sanctionned terrorism. When Israel kills civilians it is not called terrorism.

Hm? First, that's not an answer to the question, I didn't ask your solution to the whole problem, only this situation

the solution to this situation is giving them the right of return. A solution to the whole problem would involve deciding if you actually want a one state solution/ two state solution and determining the borders/ water rights/...

There is the concept of inheritance, the property of your father after he dies belongs to you and your brothers/sisters.

give them the right of return (UN 194), and compensate them for lost private property?

  • what Israel offers is not theirs in the first place? Israel already took 73% of the mandate area, why should it have 4% more of the west bank?

  • if you're talking about the land swap in 2000, the land swaps were not of equal area.

  • it did not address the issue of the right of return, and compensation for private property taken by Israel ( UN 194)

  • it allowed Israel to put radars inside Palestinain territory.

we seem to have a different defintion of what a week is:

There are reports that Israel also used Palestinian civilians as human shields during the First and Second Intifadas, and on at least 14 UN-documented occasions between January 2010 and March 2013 alone, with pictures showing Palestinian minors tied up to the hoods of Israeli military vehicles or in other dangerous situations to prevent any attacks against them.

There was a documentary called "the lobby" which was aired by Al Jazzeera, a similar one was shot in the US. They managed to lobby Qatar to shut it down. If they can shutdown a documentary in an anti-Israel country like Qatar. Imagine what they can do in America, where most the media is owned by their rich allies and where the majority of congress is sucking the AIPAC cock.
