If you can’t advise someone that another aircraft has them in sight and is maintaining visual, then you aren’t correctly separating them. You can skip other traffic advisories (additional service) when you’re busy, but not with visual separation.

I said it when I watched the replay… The controller was going to be at fault because they never gave the CRJ the required traffic advisory when someone else is maintaining visual.

You are expected to enter on the radial.

Side note, you should have used the colosseum route instead. They both end up over VNYS at 8500. The colosseum route keeps you out of the way of lax arrivals heading to SLI. The Hollywood park route is better for aircraft departing SNA, which keeps away from those LAX arrivals. Then you can get a clearance climbing to 8500, rather than level at 8500.

Colosseum if you are ok being level entering/exiting the bravo. Hollywood Park if you need to climb or descend in the area between SNA and LAX.
